Property Information:
2011 Update! Our daughter, Camilla started being in charge of operating our Manila location Jan 14, 2011 after graduating from the University of Hawaii last May 2009 so will be available 10 to 14 hours / day for a minimum of 6 month stints. There seems to be some guests who think I have not honestly described our place so I want to address this issue. We are very open minded world travelers and love to go traveling ourselves for months at a time and also to hang out at our beach house and resort on Boracay Island so SORRY even though we are available via facebook, email, and allexperts.com to answer your questions and help guide and help you anyway we can the facts of life are we can NOT often be there IN PERSON to help you. We love the incredible diversity of our Townhouse guests coming from all walks of life, from with all levels of education from high school drop outs to university PHDs, being of all races and all religions and of all ages from infants with families to 83+ year olds young enough to keep on LOVING life and from 93 countries so far, one who has traveled to over 190+ countries in his lifetime to those who landed in the Philippines for the first time, 'brave' enough to leave their hometowns. Recently we have realized this incredible diverse mix of guests is NOT embraced by some guests who prefer a more narrow, like minded, similar age group from similar economic backgrounds as themselves. So if you crave companionship and to be around people more like yourselves our guest house style Townhouse may NOT be 'your cup of tea' so where ever you decide to stay we hope you enjoy your stay in the Philippines to the MAX and GO FOR IT with enthusiasm.
Our Townhouse was opened as a hobby, after we'd traveled, worked and were lucky with business in Asia, Europe, and the U.S.A. for almost ten years. We'd stayed in bamboo, beach huts, Asian guesthouses, Spanish pensionnes, American and European campgrounds, hostels, Korean yeogwans and Japanese ryokans on shoestring budgets. We hooked up 'on the road' while traveling in Hong Kong, Korea and Japan in Dec 83, got married 2 years later in 85, decided to have a baby and knowing we'd miss the energy, excitement and adventure of world travel opened the door of our 3 bedroom 2 bath townhouse for travelers as a hobby in 86.
Our first 5 guests were Swedish young men I met in Hong Kong who had met on the trans-Siberian railway; since then travelers from 93 countries, our latest arrival a female with PHD from Uganda, have stayed at The Townhouse. After a few years, guests had written to Lonely Planet, Jens Peters' Publication and other travel guides recommending The Townhouse as a low budget, safe, clean and friendly place to stay near all 4 Manila airport terminals. After continuous improvements and expansion projects we hope to maintain a warm, family atmosphere where travelers meet, exchange travel stories and enjoy the 'magic' energy of world travel in a safe, comfortable setting with 34 unique bedrooms ( no two rooms the same size nor with same furniture nor the same ambience) with and without private baths, 29 rooms in the main building and 6 more rooms and a 4 bedspace dormitory a short 65 meter walk down Bayview Drive. So if you arrive LATE and get the type of room you booked it may feel like you got stuck with a room which wouldn't have been your first choice. If you stay a second night you'll have many new available rooms to check out where you may find yourself more happy.
The Townhouse Hotel is located 1.5 to 2.5 miles ( 2.6 to 4km ) from all 4 Manila Airport Terminals, NAIA 1 INT, Centennial 2 Philippine Airlines' domestic and International, the Domestic airport ( SEAIR & Zest Airlines ) and the Newest NAIA 3 INT & Domestic ( Cebu Pacific Airlines ) on Manila Bay's coconut palm tree lined Roxas Blvd.
The Townhouse Hotel is the only place in Manila that provides the blend of a warm, friendly meeting place for 'world travelers' in safe, clean, tourist style comfort at the lowest rates in Manila. We are happy to continue helping our guests really feel like they are 'Home'. Welcome to the Family of World Travelers!!
We are recommended in Jens Peters' Philippines Guidebook, both in English and Deutsch, Lonely Planet's S.E. Asia on a Shoestring guidebook among others.
MANILA ARRIVAL: After immigration and customs, pass through the first set of sliding glass doors BEFORE going outside look to your left for taxis lined up, Give them our address, Stress 'TAMBO' so they know we're closeby the aiports and will NOT overcharge you which is not uncommon. From the other terminals the taxis are waiting just outside. When you arrive at our place you will be asked to sign the taxi receipt. WELCOME HOME!
2011 UPDATE; Since I ( Bill )have been traveling Asia & Europe three months / year I feel I need to clarify something due to the new generation of world travelers and their expectations. We are NOT a 'factory' style Youth Hostel with generic beds and rooms so PLEASE stay elsewhere if you require such accomodations. Since the late 90s, I have noticed that REAL businessmen and investors have opened up such establishments all over the world to cater to the student / budget traveler with impressive picture perfect buildings and facilities.

I can only recomend the Townhouse hotel to backpackers and to them who like to be on budget side in the clean room. Paranaque is not so near to the center of Manila, but with airconditioned bus is easy come there for only 22 pesos. Reastaurant there is not very atractive, but in th street is possible find nice morning meal, very cheap. Internet is free of charge, but is possible only from reception, not from room. I was satisfied there! N. Rubido
