Its the perfect location if you love vintage shopping as it is right on Brunswick street in Fitzroy. However being called Tram stop 14 it really does live up to its name....its very noisy!!!
Awesome location and particularly liked the security (lockers) as well as the cleanliness of the room. The staff could've been friendlier, however, I would still recommend this place highly.
I met friendly staff and nice people during my stay. Toilet and shower place are clean and well-maintained. Free wifi works well. Overall I had a pleasant experience there. But a lack of facilities (bed light, hair dryer)is unsatisfactory, and not a pick-up place for day tour makes it a bit inconvenient for traveler.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Stayed in a 4 person room; one 'resident' had been staying there for 7 months and for us it felt like we were staying in someone's bedroom. Their stuff was sprawled out all over the room, including open food and room was quite dirty because of them. At night the room was very cold. Going out in the day, the room door was never locked by long term guest. Noisy at night as we were opposite the kitchen where other guests were shouting and playing music late.
A great hostel to stay, very friendly staff and vibe. Great location, so close to everything, including public transport. Highly recommended hostel, will stay again.
The hostel does not have a twin private room (despite booking this), rather a double room. Fortunately a solution was reached by placing a not too uncomfortable single bed in the room. From what I saw the hostel was kept very clean, and the bathrooms were of a good quality for a hostel. The WiFi internet was fast and reliable. The hostel is located on the edge of the cool part of Fitzroy, with lots of hipster shops, cafes, bars and eateries nearby. Tram 112 stops very close to the entrance.
In a great location surrounded by good restaurants, shops and bars. Unfortunately because there are a lot of long stayers the room was filthy (food left out everywhere, etc). The room doors were just open at all times and weirdly one morning the owner came into the room and opened the curtains and the window when people were trying to sleep!
Well this would be a great little place if it was not for one thing and in the melbourne winter its kind of a big thing. The only social space is outside covered by a roof and a couple of walls but open to the outside none the less.So there is no where warm and cosy to go except a small kitchen with a few uncomfy chairs. There is no tv either to chill which is ok but the lack of an actual inside area is important.Apparently in summer its very hot in that partially closed in area too.
If you're looking for Job in Australia, this is your hostel. but if you want your perfect holliday, think twice to stay here.
