Though I stayed for one night only, it was good. I liked it. If I go to Hobart again, I prefer to stay there.

After staying in a lot of hostels in many different countries overseas, I hope this is not the standard of all hostels at home in Australia. It felt like the bare minimum to meet regulations was being done to qualify as a hostel - rooms were really hot and there wasn't even a fan, the window opened onto a dumpster, there was no soap in the bathrooms, the kitchens were filthy, and I couldn't get the one hour of free wifi to work on either my phone or computer. I'd try my luck elsewhere next time.

Hi, thank you for your comments. Unfortunately you experienced a really hot day or two in Hobart at the time of your stay. If you spoke to our staff at the office we would have provided you with a fan for your room. We are reluctant to hand out our fans as they tend to get damaged. After the Falls Festival our Hostel was completely full and unfortunately some people do not do the right thing by washing up their dished/pots etc.. We have staff at certain times of the day do a thorough clean of the kitchen. We apologize that you did not get your free wifi unfortunately form time to time system errors happen and we do our best to rectify any problems .

Only complaint was the showers were pretty awful and would scald or freeze you without notice. Really good location and cheaper than most others! Comfy beds and a nice big loungeroom. Really friendly, helpful staff!

Booked just before Falls Festival and had illegal sleepers on the floor, 3 of them. Really need to work on security as anyone can wonder in and no lockers. everything else is pretty good. I would stay again, but never leave valuables around.

Owner Comment (Show)
Hi thank you for your comments. We have a night manager which if you had advised our manager he would have addressed the problem with the illegal sleepers. We To ensure privacy in the rooms we ask that our manager does not visit the rooms all night. We have a coded entrance to ensure patrons safety. In response to your comment regarding no lockers we do have lockers available to guarantee the safety of valuable items.

Overall this is a good hostel with helpful and friendly staff. Very clean throughout. Good kitchen and communal area with comfortable atmosphere. Only negative points are: You have to pay an additional fee for a locker, no soap or hand drier/towels in toilets and worst of all the showers – only a weak trickle that constantly changed from dangerously hot to freezing cold for the duration of the shower. This is the only thing that would stop us from staying here again.

I had a 12 bed dorm room to myself. Which was kinda cool. I believe September was low season. It was quiet which was good cause I had to be up before 7 for a tour the next day.
