The Travellers House is ideally located in the most historical and central area of Lisbon (Baixa), within walking distance to all major attractions and interesting spots of the city, with a superb transport network at your door.
In our 250-year-old building, we invite our fellow travellers to relax in our music lounge, enjoy a film in the TV/DVD room or read our books and surf our mega-fast internet, in the reading lounge.
We appreciate the importance of clean facilities; therefore, we'll be cleaning all day long, making sure everything is spotless.
Our facilities include bathrooms for men and for women, hot showers 24 hours a day, four common rooms (dining room, Music lounge, TV/DVD area, reading lounge), and free use of the kitchen.
Our features include free individual lockers and locks, free towels, linen and duvets, free coffee and tea all day, free breakfast, free Wi-Fi and free satellite TV and films.
To help you get around, we've got a book exchange, free maps and advice and free access to guide books from all around the world. There's also free luggage storage.
Owned and managed by travellers, we designed this hostel together in order to provide you with the best stay in one of the most picturesque cities of Europe. Enjoy a friendly, fun and intimate atmosphere for young travellers, hopefully making you feel at home.
Besides the Travellers House, we have just renovated a historic building 10 minutes from the hostel, the 'Travellers House - Studios', which includes four charming studio apartments. What puts our hostel ahead of the rest is that we truly care for the city of Lisbon and like to bring its culture closer to our guests. Even our building is a 250-year-old typical Portuguese building in an unforgettable location, making it a unique experience. We're on the main pedestrian street in the historical centre; all the main attractions are near - Baixa, Chiado, Alfama, Belém.

Our staff put their soul into their work and we offer a lot of extras to guests, like free breakfast, towels, bed linen and duvets, individual lockers and safe boxes, free luggage storage and coffee and tea all day.
For fun, guests can join our evening activities, relax on the sofas with iPads or take a ride around the Old Town on a Segway. We all have our favourite spots in the city but I usually tell our guests to take advantage of the viewpoints! Lisbon has so many, it would be impossible not to get a good view over the city or the river.Hostelworld Guests Say
I'm not usually that keen on hostels but thought I should give the 'Best in the World' a go. More than lived up to my expectations, everything about it was fantastic. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the group events in the evening a brilliant way to get to know fellow guests in a very relaxed setting. The wholecharacter of the place is incredibly welcoming and this rubs off on the guests. Go here and see how hostels should be.

Latest Review
This is in the top echelon of all of the hostels I've stayed at in Europe. Definitely the cleanest. Absolutely immaculate. Rules like no food in the rooms or common areas are very considerate and effective. Even had iPads for use! Staff quite helpful and provide a wonderful atmosphere. Also went on the day trip to Sintra and would absolutely recommend. Thanks for a great stay!
