I arrived at Travellers Trax a lost, depressed and somewhat confused young gentleman. My life was on course for a spectacular demise, probably taking down everyone in proximity in a ball of flames. After spending sometime in the illuminating and revitalising company of the staff and the other comrades at Travellers Trax I was a new man; full of renewed vigor and determination. I turned my life around. Put myself on a new course to spiritual and mental well being. Thank you Queen.................

The TravellersTrax is less a hostel and more a big flat-sharing community. Consequently the staff is very nice and you'll definitely get to know the people around the hostel, but the facilities are pretty bad (1 toilett and 2 showers for everyone), cleanliness could be a lot better and since the main doors are always open (and there is no place to lock your stuff) it lacks security. Then again, the location is pretty good. Also actual free internet (very rare in Australia) and it's quite cheap.

The hostel was quite messy and there was a smell. there was broken glass on the floor of the kitchen in the morning. It is situated above a pub so it\'s not ideal for people who needs a good night sleep on the weekends. When I arrived, I was allocated a bed. I left my stuff on the bed and went out for the day. However, when I arrived back in the evening, all my stuff were thrown on the floor and someone else had taken bed. The person was not there unfortunately and I was allocated another bed.

With such low prices it's hard to complain, but a small investment would make a big difference. With no lockers, some rooms which don't lock & a street door which is frequently left open by guests, security of your valuables is a worry. The TV room is just that & not always a place you can chat or meet people as often everyone sits in silence, the kitchen has no chairs & the corridor needs better lights. On the plus side, the hostel did seem to attract a very friendly bunch of fellow travelers.

The worst hostel I have ever been in, everything was dirty! Mice and cockroaches everywhere! The Staff was noise till 2 in the morning, so you couldn't sleeo if you wanted, and there is nothing you can do about it, the toilets had puke and blood lining the floor which was slightly moped up but was all very visible. i could go on forever... most disgusting place i have ever been to.

Not knowing Melbourne very well, we were unaware this hostel was in a less desirable area of town, so that was the first downside. The outside is considerably more ramshackle than the photos on hostelworld, so don't be fooled there. The staff were unorganised, but friendly and the hostel itself is very small - more like a rundown student flat. It is pretty dirty, with only one shower between about 40 people, although there was a small sink in the hallway and two toilets. Not fun!

You might find yourself thinking, "what have I let myself in for?" - first impressions are that of a madhouse! However, Courtney who runs the place is very personable and a friend to everyone - I think she is also sorting out how the place is run. Ultimately, whether you enjoy your stay is how much you throw yourself in as a backpacker - if you're up tight, don't bother! Despite not being in the CBD, location is excellent, being in one of the vibrant suburbs. A city tram is also 2 minutes walk.

I had great time at this hostel!!! I found the staff, paricularly the receptionist/cleaner/source of all Melbourne knowledge to be very helpful and friendly!!! One night I was pretty sick and even then the receptionist was there making sure I was okay and checking if I needed anything!!! It\'s pretty rare to find a place where you\'re looked after like this!! I really recommend this place!!!

A brilliant hostel. Met the friendliest people there, the staff especially and had a great time. They are great for helping you decide where to go and what to do, especially if you're on a budget. I'll definitely be going back before I leave Australia.

We were very disapointed with the lack of kitchen facilities & espcially the cleanliness of the kitchen (cockroaches in the cutlery drawer, grease marks all over the tiles) & bathrooms (mould on the ceiling, floors never clean) Also on website mentions theres a swimming pool (which there is not) & also mentions gauranteed work which there is not as my partner asked the manager & he said he had to wait on a phonecall from an agency!

Atmosphere not bad, problems with facilities for eating. Constraints of space in an old building perhaps. When I arrived, there was one small table for eating in the kitchen, otherwise you have to march up to the other end of the hostel with your food, where there are two more small tables, When I left, even the one kitchen table was no longer available, now used for promotional flyers It's a plus to be able to use the kitchen any time, yet that very fact contributes to cockroaches.
