The staff was super helpful and I loved hanging out at the hostel! The hostel is a bit tricky to find but it is well worth the way out of Yangshuo. The rooms were very nice and clean. Very god prie too! Well worth my money. The lounge area was great to hang out in. The food was very good as well! Couldn't be hppier with my stay.

Calm and quiet place in a small village near Yangshuo (it's a 10min walk from the city center), we really enjoyed our stay there. The staff ws great and the room big enough. The bike rent is very practical, they also have a very nice terrasse. I definitly recommand this place !

Everything was great except for the location. Super clean, felt newly built and furnished, secure. It was nice that it wasn't in the middle of tourist central but a little bit of a pain to get back to late at night.

food was amazing and so cheap, great location as away from the hustle and bustle so beautifully peaceful but close enough to walk or bike to the central part in no time at all. Staff were so friendly and extremely helpful in booking excursions and giving advice about the local area. Highly recommend!

My stay here was fabulous-- a great atmosphere at the hostel, with lots of people hanging out in the common areas. The staff are also very helpful making suggestions on travel tips, etc. Food in the restaurant is pretty good too! Rooms are very clean. Great location away from the craziness of West Street also

Pos: Overall, I really enjoyed this place. They were very nice and the food was really good too! It's a bit far from the main downtown area, but that's what makes it so great (peaceful and nice view of the mountains). The other guests were very laid back. This is definitely not a party hostel. Guests and staff were all asleep by 11pm Neg: My lights stopped working at 2am. Bad timing because I was having bathroom/stomach issues. Staff was asleep, so used a flashlight to find the toilet...

If you decide to stay in Yangshuo, skip the hotels in the city centre and go for this hostel. It's a great place, with very friendly, helpful and English speaking staff. Rooms where nice and clean.

I had a wonderful stay at Carpe Diem!!! The staff was so friendly and helpfull. They organised trips, boked busses and taxis, and everything with a smile. Food in the hostel is fantastic. Western and chinese. Location is just out of town, away from the noise. Easy to get into the city with the bikes (bring a flash light)

Its a perfect place to stay. Its a bit outside the city center (takes about 30 minutes walk) but its totally worth it. The staff is extraordinary kind and helpfull. They can organise for us many trips, reservations or activity. The place is quiet, with a very nice view on the mountains. I cannot think of a reason to stay elsewhere, the efficiency and the generosity of the staff there made our stay in Yangshuo unforgettable.

Recommended by someone as it was relaxed and away from the town centre. I have to admit I probably would have picked a slightly more central location as it was at least 30min walk away or 20-30 RMB taxi. Based in a quiet village with not much in the way of local facilities but the bar/restaurant had everything as well as extremely helpful staff. Bicycles were available for rent (many of them broken) but had to be returned by midnight. Definitely better for families than solo travellers

The staff is very nice and speaks a very good English. They can plan trips for you and have excellent recommendations that go way beyond the normal tourist program. My advice: Book a bike or a scooter and visit the most beautiful areas around yangshou away from the usual Chinese mainstream.

The second night we found a cockroach in the room. We also woke up the final morning with bite marks from bed mites or bed bugs. We received an email from the hostel before arriving saying that they could pick us up at the airport, train station, bus station, or any hostel in Guilin, any time of day or night. The hostel in fact only does pick-ups in Yangshuo. The email also said that the hostel organises transfers to and from the centre 7 times a day for just 5Y a person. This is also not true.

Owner Comment (Hide)
We live in the countryside and can't guarantee that never ever a bug will sneak into a room but we do periodically treat our rooms to clear them as soon as they arise. Not sure about the misunderstanding about the pick-up service, we do offer a pick-up service from anywhere in Guilin or the airport as mentioned in our emails and on our website, however we can't find your email to request one? Instead of the rarely used shuttle service we have decided to offer all guests free bikes after 4.00pm!
