very small rooms. got cold from the air-conditioning that was directly blowing onto my head in that tiny room. Awful breakfast.

I've made a reservation at Hostelworld at Tupiniquim Hostel and paid a 10% deposit fee plus services fee. When we arrived at the hostel for our night stay we had a big surprise, there was no room for us! Staff said we didn't have a room available and that we were notified by e-mail. This so called e-mail notification was never received. They never worried that they didn't receive a response back to their e-mail and never tried to contact us by phone (we live in the same country!) ...

only negative thing was due to some computer problems, checking in took ages. Checking out also took some time, but not as much as the check-in.

Me disiludi .

Stayed there only one night, but it has great location: Close to metro and tourist attractions. Check-in took forever and they didn't have any maps. Rooms are nice, each bed had several outlets. Bar/breakfast area looks good. Breakfast was pretty good - with fresh fruit and rolls.

Compute use is not free. WI-FI is. Outside Alcohol is not allowed and bar is expensive. Located by the Metro and Bus stations. Rooms were clean with lockers for everyone. Staff were helpful. Kitchen was small but had lots of supplies. NO FRIGE for guest use...

Great staff, very helpful and friendly. Solid location. Great balcony, although it has to close at 10 PM. Rooms are WAY too tight - my 8 bedder should have been a 4-bedder, really. Excellent breakfast, and the buffet dinner option is a nice touch. Wifi is crazy slow, and using their computers costs 4 reais an hour, which is ridiculous. Good price at 30 reais a night - I wouldn´t want to pay any more, though, given the room situation.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great views of Christ the redeemer as you eat breakfast on the balcony. The dinner you can get as an added extra was excellent, ask for the cooks homemade chilly sauce if you like it really hot!

I'd say the hostel is pretty good, but what it needs to push it into that "excellent" category is a bit more character (try decorating the walls to make the place more like a home, not just a business) and better places to hang out in the common area. Try putting a couch and some hammocks up in the common dining/chilling area. One thing I really loved, though, was the communal dinners for only 12 Reals. Sonia is the sweetest and she's an awesome cook!!!

The first room we got was very dark and not clean, with holes in the wall and no view. We spoke with the manager and he was very rude, sarcastic, and call us ridiculous. Then they agreed to change for a much better room. We think that its not at all the way to treat your customers, even if you have some reason in your argument. Except from this good satff in general, specially the lady who cooks the dinner. Good for meeting brazilian travelers, but we found it doesn`t worth what you pay.

Everything would be 100%, but the fact that people cannot use their own food in the rooms and that there isn't a refrigerator for the guests, this makes me feel that my avaliation for the place is a 7 grade.

We stayed in a dorm for 8 people on the base floor. It was quiet and had a privat bathroom. The room had aircon all day but had only one small window facing an inner emptyness. The safety felt great. Reception always manned. Under each bed there are big lockers where you can put your hole luggage. Bring your own lock though. The beds where comfy and a bit wider than usual and also as much space in the lower bunk so that you can situp straight. The breakfast was indeed great !!

Very nice staff and good location. The room was very small and crammed with bunks, but there were nice individual lockers underneath the beds. Dinner was great and a decent price. TV room had tons of movies to choose from and a giant television.

STAY AWAY! Probably the worst hostel I've visited. We got a private room booking confirmation one month before arriving, only to find out the hostel is fully booked and there's no private rooms (They sent us an email 3 days before). Every time we got back to the room the door was open (!). The reception staff changed all the time so it took forever to address our (they're) issues. We didn't get a refund when we asked to cancel one night (out of four).

It was a really good hostel, 20 min walking far from Copacabana, 20 min walking from the Sugar Loaf. Indeed, it was the largest check-in ever.
