About Hostelling International Taipei
Founded in 2000, HI-Taipei is the first HI hostel in Taiwan and the capital gateway to the rest of Taiwan. It passed the IYHF standard and joined the IBN (International Booking Network) in 2003 and for the first 3 years, trained all the other hostels in Taiwan. Through their tireless efforts, HI-Taipei has reorganized the Chinese Taipei Youth Hostel Association in 2004 and earned the Swiss AGM vote and granted IYHF full member in 2006. Now in 2009, HI-Taipei is celebrating Hostelling International's 100th anniversary by offering:

We are located directly opposite Taipei Central Main Station (and the Airport Bus Depot). The location:
-In the same building as Rainbow 3C (go to the ground floor to satisfy your craving for anything electronic -cameras, laptops, cell phones, iPods, etc.) ；DAISO Japan (NT$39 shop) at the 2nd floor, MUJI at the 3rd floor, and so many restaurants at the 4th & 5th floor.
-right next to the popular Mitsukoshi Department store (go there for designer shopping, currency exchange, their large food court, and supermarket on their ground floor)
-in the Cram school 'Buxiban' district which is always quick and bustling with an interesting mix of locals, travelers, Buxiban students and ESL students.
So, with such heavy traffic right outside our doors, you will find all sorts of shopping, culture and food/cuisine to suit your palate (Stinky tofu anyone? Also pig intestines with fermented noodles, sushi, bakeries, kebab, etc... as well as McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Subway, KFC, and much more!)
Transportation:
With the MRT (subway) station、THSR (Taiwan High Speed Rail)、Taiwan train station and almost 100 bus lines just downstairs, you have easy access to anywhere around Taipei & Taiwan. Or you can skip the buses and just walk around our neighborhood .Our "backyard" is the 228 Peace Park and just beyond that, about 5 minutes walking distance, are the all central government buildings.
