Generally a great hostel. This is a party hostel right in the action, so if you are looking for a quieter place, this might not be for you. The staff is generally superb and the amenities are very good by North American hostel standards. Fully enclosed private shower rooms are nice, the kitchen is small but well appointed, and breakfast is above average. If you have a car, I would recommend somewhere less central: parking in this area is rare and pricey. P.S. party hostel = remember ear plugs!

Nice staff, nice area, many restaurants and bars and stuff like that. Very secure, nice rooms. Good location if downtown is what you want. Only stayed for 2 nights and then changed to a beach hostel because it took about half an hour by bus from the gaslamp district to the beach...

Very cool hostel. I'd definitely come back. Staff is really friendly and cares about having everything clean and comfortable. Surf lessons were very cheap and fun. I stayed there for two weeks and I really enjoyed my stay!

Everything was pretty good. Maybe the breakfast could be improved a bit than only pancakes. But the staff is pretty fun, hostel facilities are very good such as toillets and dorms. The restrooms of my floor were broken but I could see they were repairing them.... Location is perfect, just on the hottest road downtown... sooo... my experience was very nice!!!

Located in the best part of San Diego. So nice to have free breakfast in the morning and free luggage storage. The staff was constantly cleaning and it showed. Excellent staff, the surfing lesson with Eric was awesome, he is so encouraging and fun. Parker is a sweetheart and made staying at the hostel like home. I will recommend this place to close friends and family. Thanks!

One of the best hostels I've stayed in, in the US and the rest of the world. Thanks to all the staff there for a great time including Jess, Emma, Brian, Eric, Jarred, Vic and the rest of the crew who's names I dont know. I met lots of great people and had lots of fun in San Diego, the activities were all good including the tijuana tour, beer pong and $2 taco tuesday. All the hostels facilities were spot on and I enjoyed spending one night in the private loft room.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The staff are super friendly and always helpful. The rooms are fairly clean & bathrooms are cleaned very frequently. Privacy pods in the dorms are great. Kitchen is good & bfast is satisfactory, though healthier options would be appreciated. Ample opportunity to meet people and party. We participated in the Tijuana tour & had a great time. In a good central location too. Would definitely recommend. Only negative - though wifi is free you must pay for computer usage.

Located right in the heart of the city, you could walk outside and see things to do in every direction. Staff joined us in the lounge, made dinner for us one night, and had great advice for sightseeing. There was a trip to Tijuana when I visited and surfing lessons every other day. Movie night, spotless shower facilities, great people, free wireless, a minibar and huge TV in the lounge... after staying here I called some friends and asked them to visit so they could spend a night in USA Hostels.

I only spent one night here, but it seemed like a pretty good place. The staff took us on a pub crawl (although it left an hour late, ha!) which was fun. They were very helpful when it came to explaining how to get to different parts of SD. The location seemed very central.

Staff was very nice and helpful at all times. A big thank you to all of them. The room was nice, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom/shower area was clean. Breakfast is served in the kitchen and it's good. I would just suggest that something is done about the window in room 9 as you can't shut it completely (because it would get too hot in the room) letting in a lot of noise from the street. Not a big issue though, just a remark! :) Also, please serve Froot Loops daily. Pretty please?! :D
