About Ugly Sister Hostel

The Ugly Sister Hostel is in a historic home. The Ugly Sister hostel is on the U.S. registry of historic places as The McMurray's Store. The Hostel is located inside the Washburne Historic district of Springfield, Oregon.

The city of Springfield Is connected to the city of Eugene, Oregon on its west side. To the east are mountains and rivers. To the west, Eugene is known for its lively art and music scene; And, as home of the University of Oregon. To the east the McKinsey River is know for its wild rapids and the springs (both hot and cold) that feel the river.

The Eugene/Springfield bike and walking paths along the river are complete to D. St. The Ugly Sister Hostel is located between D and E. Streets. It is possible to walk to downtown Eugene on the riverside paths in one hour. By bicycle the journey takes about thirty minutes.

The house is sweet, clean and quiet. Each guest room has two beds and an attached bath. The common rooms are a living room/dinning room, a large kitchen, an upstairs sitting room and a private back deck.

The hostel's owners are an aging hippie, M. S. Addams and her 60 lb. black lab, Lucy. Addams has traveled for years at a time. She understands how tiring it can be. The idea is to provide a safe, clean place for travelers to rest up a bit. Sleep in. Read. Unpack and reorganize their gear. Watch a movie. Go for walks. Then head into Eugene to see what is happening. Or, go up the mountain to enjoy the river.
