This is such a lovely hostel; fantastic rooms, great breakfast, and a nice 15 min walk to the historic section of Bucharest. The staff were so nice, the owner even gave us a few lei when we realised we wouldn't have enough for the taxi ride to the bus station. Definetly one of the best hostels I've evere stayed in

The hostel is located near the french embassy and there are everything you need (like supermarket, exchange office, bank, etc.) in the near neighbourhood. Even known spots in Bucharest are reachable by walking like the restaurant and bar streets of Lipscani. The hostel is tidy and has a modern look direct out of an IKEA advertise. The kitchen has everything you need and breakfast is included in price as well. Staff is very friendly and helpful in all requests and had a good sense of humour.

Very nice hostel in the centre of Bucharest. Its location is excellent to walk into the old town, but also a walk to the big recreational park along the embassies is easily done by foot. The staff is very nice and helpful to show you the best places in town; and it was no problem to check in halfway the night because of a late flight. The accommodation is simple but clean (good, hot shower), and has a nice shaded patio: ideal during hot days.

very nice hostel. one staff member had the most british/sarcastic sense of humour ive ever seen in a romanian. Still not sure if it made the hostel better or worse

Really great hostel. Beds were big and comfortable. Decent location between the train station and the centre of the city. I'd definitely stay here again.

We stopped in Bucharest only for one night and the city didn't impress us very much. Therefore umbrella hostel was a little gem, quiet in a side street with lovely yard to sit outside under trees. Everything was clean and new such as the very comfy beds which were handmade by the owner and his father. Good breakfast and lovely hosts. Highly recommended.

After having a rough start to my day, what a wonderful turn of events to arrive at Umbrella Hostel! Not only was the space it self spacious and cheery, but the staff bent over backwards to make me feel at home and to help me with a slight injury (that rough start). The beds were comfy and the lockers large and secure. The only slight issue is that the shower and bathroom facilities are a little limited - not an issue when the hostel isn't full, but might be when it is. Definitely will return!

Excellent location within easy reach to all sites of interest and transit. The beds are very spacious and comfortable, the rooms clean, and a very well-equipped kitchen primed for cooking. Overall, the hostel has a comfortable, modernist look-and-feel straight out an Ikea catalog, accompanied with knowledgeable and helpful staff. Great base for those in groups; though it's likely solo travelers might find a cozier place if looking to socialize/meet other travelers.

Only stayed at Umbrella for one night, as I was catching a flight out of Bucharest at 6am and arrived at 6pm the night before. Great recommendation from Phillip on what to see and where to eat in my few precious hours. Walkable to the Old City, walkable from the train station. Rooms were clean, provided a free locker and free reading lamp. Would stay again if I make it back

I’ve travelled around quite a lot and I must say, this is by far the best Hostel I have ever stayed in. It’s way above the standards of what a Hostel should be like. Location is perfect. Staff is amazing.Great facilities, especially the showers. Old building, beautifully restored with a great terrace. Highly recommended.
