Perfect location, clean and large bedroom but pretty small ensuite.
All brand new and stylish. Kinda Party Backpacker Hostel. Not a quiete place....
The kitchen was very messy at times which is not surprising considering the number of people staying in the hostel. Nonetheless, this issue is being dealt with better in other hostels.
Booked here to stay for 2 nights in a shared dorm with my friend, booking got stuffed up but was upgraded for free to a private room!! SUPER SUPER stoked about that!! Location was awesome walk-able to everything and right next to Degraves ST which has the best breakfast food EVER!! Heater didn't work in the room but we were giving extra blankets because it was so cold! Would definitely stay there again! Thanks guys your awesome!
PROS: 1. LOCATION!! right on the flinders st. made it really close to all the tram n train stations.. 2. Key system makes it pretty secure and safe! 3. Obsessed with cleanliness, SUPER CLEAN!4. Super comfy mattresses and charging point on each bunk!! that was really cool! 5. Good spacious lockers to keep ur stuff! CONS: 1. Very less no. of social events happening.. so the chance to meet new people is not that great! 2.kitchen closes at 12 and they dont have their own bar, but BYO is cool!
The location of the hostel is awesome. It was a few minute walk from everything. All the staff I talked with were super nice and also hilarious. I wish that all the people who stayed there were as friendly as their staff, but that's no fault of the hostel. I think the in-room shower could've been a little cleaner (and bigger), but when I used the common one that was super clean and a huge space. Biggest thing I would suggest is to update is the bunk beds- they are very noisy!
Superb place, very cool. All good, would definitely recommend. It's right opposite Flinders Station, hot/powerful showers, free wifi in communal areas, each bed has light and plug socket... they know what people want/need. Brilliant, thank you!
If I had only stayed at United Backpackers for a night, I would have given them a terrible review honestly. At first it's a bit austere and cold, plus with a lot of long termers it was a little hard to find friendly people. However, after a couple days I found this hostel to be fantastic...specifically the staff who were amazing. I ended up going back two more times when I passed through on my way to other places...it became my "safe" place in Melbourne!
The best and most modern hostel I have been in Australia!
Good hostel in a great location, right across from Flinder's Street Station and right around the corner from DeGrave's street with lots of cafes. Big kitchen and seating area with lots of fridge space, and a decent and comfortable TV room in the next room. The WiFi only works in the lobby and 1st floor, and not in the rooms, so most people in the public spaces are not social but just on phone/laptop. Staff were very helpful and friendly and will help book tours, etc.
Should include towels, not charge $5 to hire with extra $5 deposit. I hate it when places lock their kitchen at night. Beds wobbly so you can feel every movement your bunk mate makes. Good: power points at every bed! Location is ridiculously good. Clean. Kitchen area is great. Rooms decent size.
Really nice hostel. Friendly staff, nice people in the hostel, clean rooms, lots of events planned. Really enjoyed my time spent here.
Great location. Room smelt quite badly, felt toilets could've been cleaner, but showers were fine. Good kitchen/common area. Would recommend.
The location was excellent, right near the train station and Fed Square. It would be nice if the internet reached the rooms instead of just the common areas. I actually lucked out because it did reach my room on the first floor. The atmosphere in the common areas wasn't particularly social, partly because everyone seemed to be on the internet. The rooms were nice but there was definitely a smell of BO, which was hard to get rid of because it was cold with the windows open. Good value for $$.

Great location, hyper comfy beds and each if them have a reading light and an outlet, also a private locker under the bed.
Staff were not knowledgeable about the nightlife and places to go. No bar inside the hostel makes it hard to socialize.
Very good location, super central within Melbourne . The rooms are very clean, the mattress pretty comfortable and the lockers have a decent size. Unfortunately Wifi is only accessable on the ground and first floor, would be nice to have access in your room as well. Due to the big size of the common area everyone is pretty spread out during the day, but in the evening when it's getting packed it's quite easy to meet people.

The messy room I stayed....I could not bear to be in there....but the perfect facilities
I Stayed in a private room with ensuite. It was spacious, clean
I stayed for just one night (way to short!) and it was a perfect location in the city, close to everything! The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The rooms were clean and spacious enough. Though the bed felt unstable with every move.. The night I stayed, the fire alarm went off at 3am or something.. but I suppose that doesn't happens every night.
