I absolutely loved staying here. Great facilities, huge kitchen area comfy TV room as well as quiet lounge in the basement. Lovely cheap bar great for socialising. Lots of events happening which are great for meeting people if you are a solo traveller! Very central location, good spacious rooms comfy beds. Lovely helpful friendly staff! Can't fault this place one bit!

I couldn't really fault this hostel... stayed at heaps of hostel over the years. Comfortable and great location :)

Such an awesome place to stay. The location is fantastic, the beds and facilities were awesome, staff were lovely and as we drove to Melbourne it was really handy having a secure carpark just a few minutes walk away. If our stay was longer we would have taken advantage of the awesome kitchen but something to look forward to next time. Only downfall is the noisy hallway, you can hear everyone that walks up it at night

One of the best hostels I've stayed in so far. And definitely the best one in Australia. It's clean, modern, big kitchen, TV room, many activities to meet people, location is great.. The only thing is bad wifi. It's just way too slow and always disconnecting. Other way the hostel is perfect.

We arrived at the hostel at 06:30am after a horrible overnight bus journey from Sydney. We were extremely tired and dreading having to wait around until check in at 2. Luckily, lovely Michael on reception let us into our room as soon as we arrived as our beds were ready. We were so greatful - you rock Michael!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at United bcakpackers. The kitchen was big and clean and very sociable. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. All the staff were also lovely

Had a great time during my stay at United Backpackers in Melbourne! Great vibe, location and facilities :) Only negative thing would have to be the wifi that didn't always work well.

Excellent location in central Melbourne on Flinders street, can get anywhere in the city from this location trams close by and directly opposite train station. I booked a 12 bed mixed dorm room when I arrived I was in a 10 bed room which was a bonus. Good lounge area and bar in the basement, often things to do eg walking tours, pub quiz and free tachos on Tuesdays! TV room and quite large kitchen area. Key card to get in most areas, secure! Although not loads of showers I never had to wait

Paying extra for towels? Wifi no good. Beds and dorms are clean and fine. Great location

Great hostel for young people, but anyone in their thirties or older is likely to feel a bit out of place.

Great hostel right in the centre of Melbourne. Clean rooms and AC which is always a plus. Social atmosphere so great for solo travellers. And a great trivia quiz which you've got to get involved in!!! Couldn't recommend it enough. Xxx

Reception staff seemed kind of regimented, not like your normal chilled out/happy friendly backpacker types that you'd get in a typical hostel while backpacking Australia. They weren't rude, but I'd hope they would be better than everywhere else as this is a premium hostel. Bathrooms... showers and toilet cubicles are next to each other. The toilet cubicles were all flooded with water from the showers as there is nothing preventing water flow into the cubicles. Seems badly designed!

I missed the fact that there were no computers and it was a shame that I had to pay for one extra night even though I decided to leave one day earlier.

I don't think you could get a more central hostel in Melbourne. Real clean facilities, spacious rooms, very modern but still has a vintage building vibe. The kitchen actually has ovens which is pretty rare for an Aussie hostel. Hostel bar downstairs has daily food and drink specials. Easy to mingle and meet people at this hostel of you're riding solo. Barstaff are LADS. A lot of English backpackers at this hostel during my stay, didn't really get an Aussie vibe about the place.

Lovely location in the centre of Melbourne with a really chill bar.

I absolutely loved this hostel. Clean, friendly staff, great location for trams and in the CBD. And fast wifi. My only complaint is that the lockers in the female forms were small and you couldn't fit your backpack in it so bags were all over the floors. And, many of the rooms face the alley so it was noisy early in the morning. But, overall minor stuff. I would absolutely stay here again.

Nice and clean, very comfortable and really well set out. Felt like home straight away, and right in the middle of the city!

Great location and clean rooms. Had a 4-female ensuite room and couldn't have asked for more. Kassi on the front desk is always polite, friendly and willing to help. Would say it's one of the best hostels I've used

Great location - in the heart of the city just next to Flinders Street station - and very good facilities!

Excellent choice. Central, safe and comfortable. Great bar downstairs and huge kitchen area. My only suggestions would be; provide free tea and coffee at least for breakfast hours, even if not all day. Also provide hand soap in the en-suites - bit shocked not to find any! Only minor issues for an otherwise excellent choice - so much so I have booked to go back next time I am in Melbourne.
