the room was far too expensive for what we got. no towels, no toilet paper, bathroom floor was full of hair and it took a long time till the shower got warm. Even tough we told the staff that there was so much hair from other people on the foor, they said: "oh ok." and nothing happended then. glad that i only stayed two nights!!

The owner is a tour guide and helped us a lot to organize our visit to the caves, to shaolin temple, and also recommended one museum that we loved and didn't know existed! The only thing that could be improved is the cleanliness of bathroom and kitchen. The rest was perfect! Home atmosphere!

Up House is located on an street next to gas stations and car stores. It's a dreary hostel with a staff that seems a bit arrogant and some of them can not speak even basic English. They tried to overcharge me at first and took me to a 8-person mixed droom even though I booked 2-person female dorm. Finally they found me a bed in 4-person female dorm. I couldn't find showers and the staff didn't understand what I was asking. Do not go there unless it's your last option.

The second night, we had a dorm room---two quilts on the ground. The sheets hadn't been washed, and had crumbs, hair, and items left by the previous tenants on them. The owner was unavailable to be contacted by phone to get our tent the first night, or to talk to except when she called at 10:30 at night the next night, demanding money for our stay. The caretaker hadn't even approached us to pay yet. The hostel was extremely filthy, with half-eaten food left everywhere.

My friend and I stayed in a tent on the sixth floor balcony of Up Hostel. The tent didn't arrive until 11 pm, despite our listing our arrival time as noon. There was no sleeping bag (despite the hostel's written guarantee to provide one). They did provide lots of quilts to make up for that. The shower flooded the whole floor, the kitchen was a mess, and the bath mat had strange brown slime on it. There was toilet paper all over floor and a pile of used pads by the toilet. It was disgusting.

The owner of the property was very rude. And the bathroom: firstly, only one toilet!!! The shower leaks water all over whole bathroom floor, and the bathroom door cannot entirely close and cannot be locked.

We've been the first guests of the hostel. The building is really nice and has a lot of character, the rooms were clean and quite comfortable. The problem was that the hostel wasn't finished yet, so when we arrived there was dust everywhere and only a few of the facilities described on the website were avalaible. The location isn't the best too, it's really convenient if you only wanna visit the Longmen Grottoes, but to reach Luoyang it takes half an hour by bus (often very crowded).
