Outside of being told by a staff member that the closest library is the state library which is about a 30 minute walk away, they were good. There is a library about 6 blocks from it up, Clarendon st. The bed I had was excellent, but there was no window in my room. The lockers are nice and spacious but it requires you to put on a extremely low quality lock since it won't hold a normal sized one. I didn't bother using mine. Great weekly rates and close to lots of eateries and grocery stores.

35$ for a 4 bed doorm without window and a sewer pipe/water pipe through the room that always was making noise, just bad... (had 1 night in the family room for almost the same price, this room was nice). other rooms may better, but we couldnt change the room... location excellent.

There's a 50% chance of cold showers, and I'm not talking about the weather, but overall one of the better hostels I've been to.

A clean and well-appointed hostel that is neither bad nor outstandingly good. The location, next to a freeway overpass and two very busy roads is a BIG minus. The staff were very helpful and friendly but its inconvenient and ugly location would stop me from staying here again. The air-conditioned rooms are good but the a/c in my room made so much noise that I needed earplugs to sleep with it on. Room 124 is adjacent to an outside deck and some nights people sat there and made a lot of noise.

Our stay at Urban Central was great - a neat modern hostel close to the city centre. Whilst our air con was broken on our first day of arrival, the staff fixed it quite promptly and had it working the next morning. Good value for money, a decent room and friendly staff.

kitchen area too small. staff not helpful when our shuttle bus arrived early and we were then told we had missed it. refused to refund $30. after an argument and us informing them that it was theft they refunded money and we had to make our own way to airport. atmosphere here is the worst we have stayed at around the world

It will be perfect if the kitchen and the dinning room is larger.

All the dorms are roomy 4 beds, which is great. The Kitchen got pretty congested at times, with at least one of the hobs being out of order throughout my week long stay.

Value for money hostel with free tea/coffee/breakfast. Comfortable mattresses. Kitchen/dining room not really large enough given the traffic in the hostel. An enclosed tv room/social area apart from the bar would not go amiss.

Relatively close to the city center. The facilities were one of the nicest I have experienced while traveling Australia. They provided me with clean sheets, an actual bedset, comforter, etc. They also provided a towel! May have been one of the best places i've slept in. The rooms are spacious and plenty of cabinet space! Would recommend it to anyone!

This hostel is better then most, although it can feel more like a place to party during weekends. Clean, modern rooms and staff that are helpful. I must say this is my favourite hostel in Melbourne!

Clean hostel with only 4 bed dorms. Easy to get to the city. Free breakfast an added bonus. I found the staff helpful there.

If you get a private room, this is a hotel masquerading as a hostel. The showers are amazing, the room had a TV, the bed's were clean and comfortable. The staff jumped over each other to provide assistance and take care of whatever went wrong. In one case, a staff memeber forgot to book a fourth night, but they went above an beyond to rectify the situation, and despite the stress, even went on to recommend a restaurant and a local party. Fantastic! Crowd runs a bit young and rowdy.

Nice clean hostel,...I enjoyed my stay but was dissapointed with the kitchen facilities..kitchen was often too busy and closed at night which I wasnt aware of. if your not in a rush and don't mind waiting then there is no issue. Staff are really friendly and helpful. The happy hour in the bar is very good value $8 jugs...I would recommend this hostel.
