Thanks to the Urban Central team, I had a truly great and an exciting time at Melbourne during my short stay. No wonder that this hostel is highly rated,...lots of best features- free breakfast (Breads, jams, spreads, corn flakes), free tea and coffee (always kept open), free personalized lockers in room (you need to buy small locks for AUD 3), free luggage storage (not used it much). I would recommend this hostel to nomads, backpackers, single travelers who don't bother about much except money.

I stayed at Urban Central for 7 nights and I must say that it is one of the best hostels I've stayed in here in Australia. The kitchen was always clean, and the toilets as well. Free breakfast every morning, cornflakes, toast, juice, really good. The room was pretty small but enough for 4 people with windows and aircon. If I ever head to Melbourne again I would definitely stay there!

I found this to be a good hostel as I was just passing through Melbourne. The location is great, the beds are comfortable, the facilities are good and the entire establishment is clean. I loved the bar downstairs.

The hostel was lovely, however the staff was a bit clueless. I booked a early morning shutle to the airport, only to never be picked up because the receptionist never made the call to confirm. Also, no one new the city very well, so were not very good for recommendations. Plus, compared to other hostels, the general feel of the place was very formal and not very inviting.

I didn't feel there there was a fun atmosphere where people could mingle as a lot of people were staying for long times i found it quite hard in talking to people as there wasn't any ice breakers

Location was great. Within walking distance to everything, and if you don\'t feel like walking, the tram was a minute away. Restaurants and bars were close. Had an air-conditioner, although it didn\'t work the greatest. It worked well enough so we didn\'t have to have the window open. Beautiful view of the city from the 5th floor. Bathroom was clean. Staff was okay. They were not that helpful, but they were friendly.

Location OK. Building is just a concrete block of box rooms, with zero character. There was very little atmosphere created by the staff. Which all gave the place a very generic feel! Too many long-stay "backpackers" working, not travelling. Dorm room very dirty and smelly, doubt it had been cleaned in weeks, one's shoes literally stuck to the carpet. No real stand out qualities

The location is very good, 10 minutes' walk from Southern Cross Station. We lived in a double room, luckily with a private bath room.

Had a great stay here, perfect location in walking distance to all the main attractions. Very clean there is always someone tidying. Kitchen is very big but sometimes didn't have enough cutlery so had to buy our own.

Hostel very clean and secure; staff friendly and helpful. Biggest downside was the location. While the hostel is quite close to the city it sits at the corner of two very busy roads so there was loud traffic noise all night, every night.

Great clean hostel. Would be good if you where working and needed to get good night sleeps. Very hard to meet people as everyone is in there groups so if you are on your own I would recommend somewhere with a bit more atmosphere.
