The hostel has a modern, colorful and very cozy character. It is super clean, rooms, common areas and shared bathrooms are shiny all day long. The staff is very friendly and helpful yet discrete. Good price per value (it is not cheap but it is a hostel in Manhattan...)

This is usually a 5 nights minimum hostel but we got a 2 nights deal, and boy what a deal. I\'ve never seen such a clean hostel. It\'s very well decorated and we have actual bathrooms, not just public pool-type cabins. We got greeted coming right off the elevator and the staff was incredibly helpful and kind. We left our bags in the hallway when we checked out and they let us keep the keys until we left for good (we had all the time left we wanted after checking out).

The hostel was perfectly located in midtown Manhatten - central to all the sites. The staff were friendly and the facilities were great - if you just want to make a cup of tea or cook your dinner. The other guests were mostly quiet and we only saw a few others whilst we were there. We had a couple of noisy evenings - staying in midtown in the city that never sleeps can be a bit of a shock if you're used to peace and quiet, but earplugs soon help! We stayed for 5 nights and it was perfect!

I felt like I was at home. It's very quite, which was nice. I liked that in the refrigerator I had my own bin for my supplies. My room felt very secure w/ the key pad lock door knobs. I love the bIg windows in my room. I was walking distance to great shopping and not far from any bus and subway. Can't wait to stay again.

Urban Oasis Hostel, New York: VERY kind staff! Very clean. We loved the kitchen with the fridge and the lounge corner. Good showers, and clean. We were happily surprised by the free WIFI, free printing service, free use of fridge. Will recommend this hostel to anyone visiting New York!

We had an absolutely lovely stay at Urban Oasis and would recommend it to anyone looking for reasonably-priced accomodation in Manhattan, which has character and good faciilities. The rooms and communal areas are spotlessly clean and well designed, the staff are so friendly and helpful (they even remember your name), there is information about places to go/eat/drink, which is great for people visiting for the first time, free internet and good security. We wished we could have stayed longer!

The decor, location, and cleanliness were exceptional at this hostel. The only complaint I have is that you have to pay so much money to share a bed in a small room ($65/per person). I thought it should be the price for the room vs. per person. I've never paid so much money to stay in a shared bed in a hostel in comparison to European hostels. If I had stayed alone, would I have paid only $65 or would I have had to pay for double occupancy? New York City is expensive overall obviously.

Owner Comment (Show)
We appreciate the comments, but to expect a private room for $65 in the Middle of Manhattan, right by the Empire State Building, is ridiculously unrealistic; I should say, unheard of. (To set the records straight, this guest stayed in a private room and shared the room with a partner or friend - we do not have shared dorms.) And $130 for a private room in the middle of Manhattan is quite a deal, those who checked around, would know :) Wish we could charge less, but this is Manhattan!

the location was very good, close to 5th avenue and a few blocks away from the empire state building! so it was perfect for shopping/tourism. the hostel itself is very clean, the rooms were simple and gave a very relaxing vibe. the staff is very nice and helpful, there is free wifi, coffee and tea and also they print out a couple of activities monthly to do in new york city so if you didn't have time to do the research, they have the tools to help you out!

The hostel was close to excellent 24 hour transport links, from which the whole of the city was accessible. It was very clean, staff were very friendly and helpful - the beds were HUGE! Free tea and coffee in the mornings prepped you for the day ahead. There was wifi and printing which was extremely useful if you are staying for work as well as pleasure. The hostel was quiet at nights so you could recharge after a full day - no screaming groups of 18 yr olds. A bargain at a very high standard!
