I have stayed in hostels all over the world and the Valley House is by far the best :)

perfect! more or less in the middle of nowhere. Old nice house with good and enough facilities. There is also a pub in the house where one can have a couple of drinks and chat with the barkeeper who is also the owner of the house. By the way, the island is very cool but windy ;)

Staff we nice- rooms were comfortable. Not enough toilets- just 2 for the whole floor of around 25 beds!

Lovely house, with a lot of history. About 12 miles from achill sound so after the Green way Cycle (Westport-Achill is 42km) we got the return pick up service for 5 euro. Staff were very friendly. There's a bar attached to the hostel and while it was midweek in March there was no one else there, I imagine it would be great craic with a music sessions and all. Would recommend for value for money!

Friendly and hospitable owner.

Nice hostel but kinda hard to get to. Not near anything else whatsoever on the island walking distance, but it's the only hostel so better make sure you can drive. The owner didn't want people drinking in the kitchen because of the attached pub. He let us away with it because it was New Years but I think he's more strict otherwise. Be discreet with your drinks.
