The hostel is very good, safe and clean, in addition to having the activity center YMCA, which offers guests a variety of physical activities from swimming to sppining. What upset me was the tourist information guide, which only provides information regarding the tours sometimes expensive bad mannered.

Although WIFI access is included, they were having issues with the network, and it did not work. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. However, the room was very hot, and the heating could not be controlled in the individual rooms, which forced me to sleep with my window open (in November), with lots of noise from outside. There also appeared to be an issue with noisy heating vents/pipes at night. Great gym on site, and a friendly concierge service.

I reserved it 11/16, and checked in 11/18. The front desk girl was busy talking with a guy. We two people pay for the fee half and half, that's every one pay $86.4. But she told us the printer is not working well. so one of our receipt is printed on a A4 paper by another printer. When I return home yesterday, I checked my online bank. It charged me two $86.4 and charged my friend 86.4. SO why charge me more one time? I called back the hotel; tell me they will refund me.When get my money?????

No hot water for two days of my stay and being woken to the sound of banging pipes at 3.o'clock for the next two nights was not entirely my idea of a enjoyable stay, but I made the most of my stay. Thank you

For the price, cleanliness and location I would recommend the Vanderbilt YMCA to friends visiting NYC!

We were quite happy with the Vanderbilt so if like us you only want somewhere you can freshen up and get a good nights sleep then it is good. Well adequate amounts of showers and bathrooms and the security for locking up valuables is top notch. Basically the advertisements match the reality, so on that basis the rating should be nearer to 100%.

Everybody in reception was quite rude and unhelpful (but a young man who was a pleasure to deal with). The guy in concierge thought only about his dollar - anything else was quite irrelevant to him. I will not recommend this hostel, mainly because of the stag who works there.

This is perhaps the most expensive but worst hostel I have ever lived in. There is not enough bathrooms, and the condition in the bathrooms is terrible. The wall is so thin that every time when someone slam the door I felt a shake in my bed. Everything in the room is quite old, and electricity plug in the room is not enough. The faculty is not very friendly, and the hostel seems provide more ads then info at the reception desk.

I booked for one night, and was woken up at 7:30am by hostel staff. I was told that I should not have been booked in that room, and that I had to "evacuate" the floor hours before check-out at 11. We negotiated an "evacuation" time that was closer to 10am, but the hostel had a security guard on the floor who kept telling us we needed to leave immediately. Then, when we tried to check out, the staff were very rude and unaccommodating to our situation. Very poor service.
