VERY NOISY. Made sure to drink a lot before in order to sleep through the noise. The noise was so bad that I could even hear others complain and be moved around but I was too lazy to get up and complain. The good point was it forced us to mainly stay outside and explore NYC I would not reccommend this to anyone and I def. won't be coming back

The guy at the front desk was very unfriendly. We lost our booking number and paid 2 $ for internet access to check our number.

Just a few blocks away from subway station, so it is convenient. The toilet and bathroom are clean, but the water is not hot enough... The staff is okay. It was cold when I was in New York, the heater in the room made it warm inside, but the heater is a bit noisy though. Overall, It was quite a good hostel to stay in.

Really enjoyed my stay at Vanderbilt YMCA. Staff were, on the whole, friendly and helpful. WIFI didn't work at all during my stay, which was a pain as I kept being told to used the paid computer terminals at $2 a pop. Annoying when I'd brought my laptop for the free WIFI. Linen and towels were clean. Towels were replaced every day and the bed was made for me with proper hospital corners. Fridge in room was superfluous, noisy and smelly. Bathrooms nice and clean. A good stay :)

The location is wonderful, a few blocks from Times Square, the MOMA, the United Nations and lots of restaurants around. Very friendly people in Front Desk, Security and Maids. Safety Box service makes walking around a great pleasure without caring for money and passports. Vending machines in the lobby and different floors, a great help when is late or cold outside. The showers are great, and so is the heating as I could try during this early october snow days. Definitely a great option.

The room for one is good, with enough space. Staff is very nice and helpful. Location is very nice too. The only problem is that the bathroom is a long way from the room.

Was hoping for a social hostel, to meet other travellers - was very disappointed. Apparently it was fully booked, but I barely saw another person during my stay, and there was no common room/bar to meet others. Room was very very cold in October, no heating. Good facilities in room: tv, fridge, coat hangers, desk. Quite clean, but very old.

This place had a great location it was so close to all the major sites and Times Square. I was staying on my own in New York and as a lone girl I felt more than comfortable enough to walk around the area on my own and safe in my room! The room was a little dirty as were the bathrooms, but for the price and the location I didn't expect hotel standards! I guess you just need to adjust your expectations when staying in a hostel in an expensive city like New York!

Eventhough you offer a wi-fi connection as part of the package of services , it is imposible to connect to internet from the rooms and the connection from the lobby of the hotel is very, very poor. If you need to find information related with weather, directions, send a mail or take care of work related issues you will be in trouble because there will not be a way to use the internet during your stay at Vanderbilt YMCA. You can say the Vanderbilt YMCA does not have wi-fi internet.

Passable. My room was very clean, but the bathroom toilet didn't flush, so peoples' waste would accumulate until the maids flushed it somehow. Shower stalls were very delipilated; I thiNk the shower's grout and tiles need to be replaced. Front desk security was tight, however my door and the womens bathroom door didn't lock all the way behind me. Thoses issues weren't really noticable until one turned and looked- it could easliy be missed. Staff was really nice- a little disorganized though.

The self closing room doors are great for security but during the night and early morning as people use the restroom and shower facilities the banging of the doors makes for fitful sleep.

Es una buena opción para estar muy bien ubicado y a un precio no tan alto. Es una pena que no haya cocina para uso de los huéspedes.

I've stayed in many hostels and i'm not fussy but this place fails on a few key criteria. Firstly, for those who opt for the cell with shared bathroom there are inadequate showers for no. of rooms. Secondly, most of the staff are arrogant and rude. I know this has been commented on before but it's true. As this is a busy functioning gym as well as accomodation then I doubt they read these reviews or care. Location is good and price is ok (for new york). Lots of (loud) school groups staying.

Nice hostel, the location is perfect, we can walk to times square in just 20 minutes... The room is really small, but who wants to stay in the room in NY. The cleanliness was not so good, but it´s possible to take a shower and sleep comfortable. I recommend, because the price is very fair.

I'm one of those guys that when I´m travelling the only thing that I really care is the location, the rest is not really important. Let me tell you something, my week on this Hostel made me change completly this point of view. I traveled for many countries in the world, and this hostel is definitly THE WORST HOSTEL I EVER STAYED!!!!. Unhelpfull staff (many times rude), expencive, the rooms are very small, unclean bathrooms, etc...etc...
