Great character and atmosphere, excellent location and friendly, very helpfull staff. I enjoyed staying at Vertigo Centre very much and will certainly return there on future visits to exotic and fascinating Marseille! Until recently I used to stay at mid range+ hotels, but found equal quality and cleanliness at a place like Vertigo, while great character and atmosphere set places like these apart. I will certainly recommend Vertigo Centre to friends. Patrick van Erp, Haarlem, Holland.

Really nice place. Nice rooms, external area, living room etc. The staff was really friendly. The hostel is super close to the train station, which can come iin handy. The area is a little sketchy at night, though. But not so much more than the rest of the center of Marseille.

Vertigo Hostel is one of the best hostels, I have even been! Very friendly and helpful people a big kitchen and a cute back porch. The rooms were always clean and confortable. You can cook with other travellers in the kitchen or have a great breakfast there! You just need 10 minutes to the vieux port and in the city. For sure: I don't know anything, that could have been better in Vertigo Hostel! :)

Vertigo centre was a very cute hostel with a nice patio in the back that would be great in the summer. It's very close to the train station which is very practical. I appreciated that it had a kitchen and bar. The rooms were clean and spacious. The bathrooms inside we're nice as well. I wish it was in a little bit of a better neighborhood but its very close to the old port which is nice.

everything about the hostel was great- the location is really close to the train station and allows for a quick walk to the vieux-port area and its surrounding attractions. careful not to travel alone at night though, there seem to be particular areas where gangs hang out (on numerous occasions a few policemen felt the need to escort our group through a particularly dodgy looking area leading to the hostel). rooms were clean- no complaints. wifi reception could be better in some rooms

A great place to stay - right by the train station in a fun, colorful area. About 10 minutes walking to the vieux port. Perfect wifi, hot water and really friendly staff. Would definitely recommend staying here!

I liked it. Nice friendly staff very mutch into a chat if you want. Peaople go in and out and you give away the key of your room. Anyone can ask that same key and enter your room. Slept in a forward room; there was a lot of noice in the morning; you are better of asking a room on the back side.

The hostel is next to the train station in an Arabic area. Arabic area is unsafe in terms of walking alone at night time. Overall the hostel is 10 mins walk from the old port and an the old city, and value for money is very good. Rooms are big and clean, with comfortable beds and all necessary in house. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Very good place for backpackers. Staff are friendly. Attached toilet for each room is spacious and clean. Caution: walking up the spiral staircase could give you vertigo =)

Myself & my partner stayed here for 3 nights. The Location & staff were very good but the Double Room we stayed in was very shabby, It wasn't very clean & it was extremely basic & quite cold. If we were in Marseille again we wouldn't stay here. If you want something cheap & basic, it's grand. But if you want something cleaner & more comfy, look elsewhere.

Good hostel for an emergency stay in Marseille! It was really close to the train station, sort of had trouble locating it at first, but then once we found it we realized it was right there. Clean, had a cooking area, basic necessities met. Will stay here again if needed! :)

Very close to train station, but hard to find as it's located in a small street. Also it seems it's a bit unsafe at night! PS. Staff made a mistake and gave our room to someone too (we were 4 and booked the whole room). Was very surprised to find someone in our room when we came back...

Not even 5 minutes from the train station the location could not be better. Having said that expect an inner city feel when walking around the city at night even near the hostel. My ensuit room included only a shower and sink no toilet, which was shared and across the hall, and there are no lockers. There is a very tiny kitchenett and common room in one that I didn't use, but looked sufficient for a quick simple meal.
