Really nice. Depend on what you 're looking for, but if you want to meet some interesting and a bit mature people, it's a good place. totally different from hostels like X Base (no overexcited teenager) room : mine had a lot of space, lockers, drawer under bed, sink cleanliness : what you can expect from a hoStel and not a hotel, regular, i'm kind of a sissy and for me it was okay. Brunswick is recommended area from the melburnian if u like art, nice bar and good music so... go 4 it!

The door to the dorm room in which I was staying was almost always open or unlocked. Guests should be told to lock their room doors when they leave their rooms. The kitchen area was rarely clean during my stay. One of the shower blocks had a poorly attached shower rose; another had a lock that, once locked, was very difficult to reopen. The bedding provided to guests was minimal and of a poor quality. The manager evicted tenants (not me) late one night by screaming loud abuse and banging doors.
Cleaning needed to be done more often. It was only once a week, that's not enough!
I knew going in that this was in a not so nice part of town and probably cheap because of lower standards. The hostel has no early check-out policy, and at check-in I asked when check out started. She said 7 or 8 am. I tried to check out a little after 8--after finding the bar and main areas locked, knocking loudly, trying to find the cleaning woman who lived in one of the rooms, and calling the owner, I left my keys. I emailed the owner about the key location/deposit. No answer for 11 days now.
The newly refinished men's restroom and showers was very nice. The rooms weren't too cramped, and there was plenty of room for storage (each person gets a locker, a shelf, and a drawer). The kitchen was adequate, not very well supplied. It was sometimes difficult to find cutlery and bowls. The main problem was cleanliness, which is always difficult in a shared kitchen. Overall: better than expected! The staff were friendly and accomodating, and the food and drinks downstairs were delicious!

Unfortunately there was only 1 toilet for about 30 Backpackers at the time of my visit. The kitchen is very poor stocked with eqipment as pans, knifes and spoons. The location in Brunswick is quite cool, a very fancy suburb. The staff is also very nice and the atmosphere is very good meaning that it's quite easy to meet new people and make friends.
Staff was all great, besides the mattress the room was perfect (spacious, warm and organized)! Kitchen had minimal utensils and was always filthy - you can't clean anything with no dish soap and no clean towels. Bathrooms dirty as well.
