Really enjoyed my stay here during the World Cup. Best bit is the view from the terrace, overlooking Ipanema beach. The owner is nice and really laid back, it feels like he's just letting you stay in his house. The breakfast is great. Fresh, warm bread rolls with cheese, ham, jam and fresh fruit. Rooms are a bit cramped and it's a bit of a trek to get to Copacabana or Lapa but buses leave pretty regularly from just down the hill. The aiport bus also goes by there, which is handy.

This Hostel is located perfectly just a few minutes from the beach!! There are buses departing frequently and even an airport shuttle bus #2018, which is great for getting to and from the international airport. Yes, it's in a favela, but I felt quite safe there and the people were lovely and helpful. I really felt at home in the hostel, it has this warm, welcoming and authentic feel about it. Room was clean, shower was clean and hot AND Jefferson (the owner) makes THE BEST caipirinha!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Muvuca Hostel; clean facilities; friendly staff and laid back atmosphere. Don't be put off by it being located in a favella, during my stay I felt entirely safe and it's pretty much on the main road anyway. Vidigal itself is only about 10 mins walk from Leblon and there are loads of buses that go into town so it is perfect if you are on a budget but still want to be near everything. Also there's a pet turtle!
