Showers were very poor with little hot water and they seemed very dark and dirty. Location is quite far away from central Rio. Staff were excellent. Although we were in a favela we felt very safe as there was a constant police presence. However, the lockers provided were far too small, you'd struggle to keep a laptop in them. Would probably stay more central next time, however it is cheap and does have amazing views out over the ocean.

Hello Ben, Yes, when you use the eletric shower, you have little water ! we are looking for the " dark and dirty " !! In Rio you have a lot of Hostels...central, in the beach, downton, Lapa, Santa Teresa..and in the Favela with the best view in Rio... The lookers ou can put one Laptop !! Thanks fot the " Staff Excellent " ! We tray to make the best all the time ! regards Luis & Andre

I stayed here over Easter weekend when it was particularly busy. There was a really great atmosphere and very helpful staff. The location is slightly out of the main area of Copacababa/Ipanema etc, but we definitely got great value for money as a result, and the transport links are excellent. The favela is probably safer than the rest of Rio, and there’s a beautiful small beach close by. I really enjoyed my stay and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to see Rio on a budget!

Great . Loved it. Breakfast with a view, and with affirdable price. They assist you up to the last minute to plan your day. You can enjoy the free caipirinhas in the evening . All very respectful and polite. Recomended : hiking the morro, tour and lunch in the favela. Thank you all for making sure I had a great vacation!!

This hostel has a great atmosphere, the staff are all very friendly and helpful, especially Luis, the owner. Great view over the ocean from the hang out area where Caipirinhas are constantly flowing. I stayed in the 12-bed dorm - there was little floor space, especially when 12 people have their big suitcases in the room. The bathrooms, although clean, were a bit cramped. The hot water was very sporadic - one of the showers had no hot water at all. However, had a very nice stay here.

This hostel is AMAZING! I have already started telling people to stay here when in Rio. We were here for Carnival 2013, and I couldn't have been happier! As all the other reviews mention, the views, the breakfast and the hosts are incredible. Luis and Andre are travelers themselves so know exactly what info you want and are more then happy to share. Location is great, only a short walk to Leblon & buses directly across the road. This hostel is a must. Thanks so much Andre, Luis and Hafa :)

This was the best hostel that I've ever stayed at! My gf and I were there for Carnival 2013 and had an incredible time! The view and breakfast from this hostel were amazing and the hosts (Luis, Andre and Hafa) go out of their way to ensure that your stay is incredible. Luis even picked up a cake and candles for my gfs birthday!! Luis is famous for his caipirinhas and will get every night started off by inviting everyone to "happy hour". This creates a great atmosphere for everyone! Thanks guys!

Our favourite stay in South America! On first arrival you may be taken back at the location as it is in a favaila, but in time you realise that this is the real Rio. The hostel is is incredibly safe and the locals and staff go out of their way to welcome you. Location is good -15 min walk to Leblon and atmosphere is second to none. Thoroughly recommend this place. Thanks for a wonderful time Luis, Andrea and Rafa! Dara & Lisa

I enjoyed staying here. It is located right across from the water and the views are amazing. It is a short walk to the beach but is nice to be out of the hustle and bustle of Leblon and Copacabana. Andre was a great host and really shows you Rio. I hope to come back to stay next time I am in Rio!
