A thoroughly adequate hostel. Good showers, big lockers under the beds, but you won't be blown away with anything. The free vodka after 9pm in Lonely Planet only happens if you ask for it, so do! Aaaand it's actually Lao Lao. But hey, it's still free. There's very little atmosphere in this place unless you create it yourself - but we asked to put music on and they let us, and we brought some drinks and had a pretty fun night. Just don't expect a party there unless you make it.
Stayed 2 nights. Bed was clean comfy, quiet room, apart from noisy aircon. no remote. Brekkie was eggs on toast with hot beverage. Staff spoke a little english, enough to get by. There are 4, good, clean showers. Nice location for restaurants and night market. Wifi was average, there are 3 routers, and sometimes didn't connect in the room. Beds had lockers beneath them. Use your own padlock. For the price, it was well worth it. 2 days was enough for Vientiane.
Had an excellent time! Great breakfast; helpful staff; speedy internet; plugs at every bed; and comfortable, if somewhat hard, mattresses... Only suggestion is ensuring that the showers are all working; one of the shower heads broke when I was there and it was not fixed after two days... Such an issue should be addressed immediately :-)
Downstairs in the reception/common area it smalls like raw sewage constantly as do the bathrooms. Free breakfast is alright and location is great. Strange crowd.
Great WiFi, free breakfast was okay. Eggs, eggs or eggs. Beds were rock hard though but big lockers and bed lamps were welcome. Only two toilets for 50 people and one was constantly backed up. Apart from that, it was a comfortable two night stay.
One of the showers was broken when I was there - and this should have been fixed within a few hours... That it remained broken for over a few days suggested someone was not looking out for this... Had this been fixed, I'd give the hostel above a 90% rating...
Bad wifi (limited to just a few people), a lot of plug sockets don't work, just 2 toilets and 3 showers for all dorms of the hostel together. Matresses are really bad and uncomfortable (big holes in it). Too expensive for this kind of dorm

Clean and comfortable. Good wifi when it connects but didn't connect a lot of the time. Good free breakfast. Power outlet by each bed but less than half of them work. Good location close to the night market.
Good wifi, big lockers, good social atmosphere, hot water. Helped with ticket booking and it was effortless. Location is convenient to everything!
After being up north, freezing cold with no hot showers, arriving in Vientiane and having a beautiful hot shower here made me so happy! Close to night markets, can hire bikes etc to get to further places, clean, helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again, even if it was just for the hot shower!
An okay hostel in a good location in Vientiane. The beds are hard like wood and the rooms have too many of them in it. The bathrooms are on the bottom level, so if you are staying on the top floor, it's a long trip down in the middle of the night to the toilet. The rooms are hives of mozzies.
Not much of an atmosphere seeing as its a backpacker hostel. Also the showers weren't in great condition, the beds were hard and the adapters in the room wouldn't take my friends or my plugs. But good location and fairly cheap.
Cheap as chips, but a few drawbacks: Huge rooms meant lack of atmosphere, very thin walls (we could hear people singing two stories down, they actually were good, but it was 1am), no mosquito nets or mesh guards on windows meant plenty of mosquitoes, a/c switched on from the reception at night meant we were freezing, 2 toilets and 4 showers vs. almost 50 beds. If you get the chance, check out other hostels and guest houses, though they might be similar standard for such low price.
If you Need a cheap place to stay for the night it's ok. It however only has two bathrooms for all people staying there. Additionally the staff had never heared about the free vodka after 9pm (if your polite you might get some Lao Lao though)...
Great location, great hot showers, big dorms with a lot of space, decent breakfast, really enjoyed it.
Nice place, but aircon was too cold. A lot of people don't want to socialize and just use the unstable, free wifi. Anyway, the free breakfast is great and they help you with transport. Really good location, but not noisy.
Good B-fast. To many rules. Make sure they give the correct change...especially if a currency comversion is involved. The staff was very indiffent and non-challant about not even comming close. If you book a VIP bus, just know that the bus is over sold every day and if you wait for pick up...you are not going to get on the big bus. Save 10, 000 kip and buy your ticket on the next street over. Save the hassle and walk early to the VIP bus, it parks on the left side of the Loa Nat'l Museum.
Our stay at Vientiane backpackers was good. The staff are really helpful and the location is really good. Stayed in a 16 person mixed dorm. They had huge lockers under the bed for storage. However, mine was broken so i shared one with my friend. Breakfast is included and you get to choose from 3 options. For the whole hostel, there is only 2 washrooms and 4 showers but i never had a problem. You meet lots of people and I would definitely recommend this place.
