I would definitely recommend staying here :) the double bed bunk beds are really good for couples. The atmosphere here is really good the drinks are abit expensive but no more than any other bars. The staff are English speaking including most of the Vietnamese staff .Food is excellent and the free breakfast is a plus with optional extras at small prices.Something is going on every night which keeps you occupied.Only bad point is they turn air con off and then don't turn it on untill you ask
Hanoi Backpackers hostel was a pretty decent place to stay! Some things to keep in mind: this is a party hostel, so most travelers here are the party type, which wasn't my cup of tea, but they do keep it quiet after midnight. The bathrooms were kept pretty clean and picking the right shower stall is hard (each has random heat and pressure). The halong bay castaway was a party! if you want a actual tour, head to Friends Travel just a block away!
One of the best hostels I've stayed in. GREAT staff, very clean (you see people cleaning constantly), lockers big enough for backpacks, and very social. Different events each night (beer pong and pub quiz were awesome) and even with these activities the rooms are still quiet since they are up an elevator. Stay here!!!!!
My favourite hostel in Vietnam. Such a good vibe and there are so many people to chat to. Whether you're exhausted from cast away and just wanna chill, 5th floor is great with movies and sofas for a bit of peace. However if you're up for a night out there's always stuff going on. I booked my whole last weeks activities through here and although the guy selling me the stuff wasn't clear the staff of my trips were amazing and also the Sapa staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming!
Excellent! Had 2 nights then 2 nights 3 days on halong bay which was messy!!! Excellent trip booze cruise and tubing were great. Then had 1 more night back in Hanoi and they organised me a taxi to airport 30 mins away $17 between how ever many passengers. Free walking tour is helpful and the map. Showers/WC on each floor. Great for lone travellers Tv room upstairs is great to socialise as is the bar downstairs 2-4-1 happy hour. Free breakfast is great!!! Can't recommend this place enough!!!
Go here if you want to sleep in a 24/7 club. If you're travelling by yourself, or just generally looking to meet people at your leisure, having one or two drinks over interested conversation while someone is playing acoustic guitar in the background in the meantime, stay away. Facilities and location are great. The staff is divided between very kind people (mainly the Vietnamese employees) and those who treat you like just another person with cash.
A fantastic stay at downtown backpackers. Would highly recommend this hostel especially with there fun evening activities and offers on alcohol. Perfect for backpackers.
Great Place to meet lots of people. It's a party atmosphere kind of hostel so if you're down with that, you will have a blast everyday. Many Showers & Toilets. Pricey full bar compared with local prices. They have also pricey tours but its worth it if you meet the right people and decide to go together. Bars & clubs are within 3 blocks radius. lockers in room & room cards. Free water right on the hallway. daily events. People from hostels close by come to the bar to hangout and meet other people
Brilliantly organised. They provided all facilities you could possibly need. The included breakfast was served super fast and tasted yum. Each night there was a great atmosphere downstairs, whilst even the movie room upstairs had a great chilled vibe. Definitely recommended!
Good area best vibe. Rate boat cruise and pub crawl heaps!!
Amazing facilities. Really loved the free water. Excellent vibe.

Great hostel with an awesome atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. Definitely book the castaway tour to halong bay as well.
Great place to stay for a lovely atmosphere! had loads of fun
Without a doubt one of the best hostels I've stayed at in SE Asia. Staff are incredible, they work so hard to make sure everyone is having a great time and that the hostel is kept clean and safe at all times. Social areas are fantastic, movies playing all day if you want to relax, pool table and computers, plenty of opportunities to meet people. Rooms are clean, own lockers and storage. Every night there's an event on; pub quiz, beer pong, bbqs. Halong bay, castaway tour a must!!
Great atmosphere, full of young party crowd, perfect location. Private rooms way overpriced compared to other hotels in the area.
Hanoi backpackers is a great hostel for youth! Crazy parties every night. The only thing I would change is that the staff wasn't very helpful...I went on a tour to Halong Bay and forgot my phone in one of the bunks. When I told the staff worker on the bus back, she seemed not to care and didn't make any phone calls until we got back to the hostel. I didn't hear from her after that. After speaking with 2 more staff at seperate times (both who had no idea about my missing phone) both were useless
