It's an OK hostel if you're 18-21 and want to hang out with Brits. Slightly too pretentious, the staff here is only busy with being on Facebook all day or chatting about last nights events, the "travel agency" don't have any knowledge of things to do outside of the tours they sell. Everything is also v overpriced and most of onward travel arrangements can be made a lot cheaper next door. Having said that, the actual facilities and the restaurant are decent.
Nice place to socialize and partying! Really nice and helpful staff ! But their tours are just overpriced. Just around the corner we booked sapa and halong bay for 143$ and the Trips were just awesome !
Really good hostel. Not as good a party vibe as downtown - more chilled but still really clean and friendly people
This hostel is in a great location in the old quarter. It's go big dorms with comfy beds and breakfast is ok. It's got a good bar on the roof. The staff are a bit frosty and the tours are around double what you'd pay anywhere else. Overall a good hostel
Lovely hostel which provides the option to be more social or not. Breakfast included was great. Enjoyed the extra activities offered such as the walking tour and bar crawl.
Excellent experience here. Great backpacking atmosphere, easy to meet people. Located in the Cathedral district in a nice bustling area, not as crazy as the downtown old quarter. Staff are friendly, engaging, and speak English well. Great social common areas. Good wifi. One of my top two hostels in a 2 month trip.
Good location, quieter than DownTown but still a good sociable scene. I really enjoyed my stay here.
Very good. Only complaint was walking tour was poor.
The Orinigal Vietnam Backpackers (don't confuse it with the Downtown one) is a great place for party and meeting people. Even though this was not my intent, the stay at this hostel was very nice. The free breakfast, helpful staff, the quite rooms and the big common room were a plus. The 10-bed female dorm was spacious and clean, while a 6-bed-mixed dorm we stayed in was tiny, windowless, smelly and the aircon didn't work all the time which made it very hot.
Great hostel. Spacious dorms, clean bathroom, great free breakfast, friendly staff and a good location. Negative points: The food in the restaurant is pricey and there is no real common area. Despite that the atmosphere is good and the original hostel is way more quiet than the downtown one.
The dorm room was not cool enough at night and we had a few sleepless nights. They need to work on the a/c There is a latina club next door so it is SO loud on friday and saturday. The private room was quiet, clean and had very good a/c Overall they have a good location and facilities.
Good value for money. Need to sort out air conditioning in dorms as very stuffy and uncomfortable.
A party hostel with a lot of activities. It is not as party as the downtown one but still a party hostel. Notice that their tours and offers are overpriced.
Enjoyed staying here, right in the middle of Old Town Hanoi. Hostel was good, staff very helpful and good breakfast. Only downfall being the Air Con goes off in the dorms during the day but nothing major.
Fun, clean hostel, ideal if you are interested in doing the Castaways trip! The hostel is also excellent for booking onward journeys. The Original is far more relaxed than Downtown which I liked! Only complaint is wifi did not work in the room.
Overrated. Hard to meet people because there's no common room, just a restaurant downstairs. Also, didn't really like the people staying there. First night didn't sleep much because of drunk British teenagers. Staff was decent. Tours were like double the price of other hostels. I switched to Hanoi Central Backpackers - Old Quarter after a couple nights and had a much better experience.
The hostel and staff were great. The location is also wonderfully close to a lot of the main attractions in Hanoi. The Wi-Fi did not consistently work however, making online banking and future reservations cumbersome to do.
Really enjoyed my stay here! Not as sociable as the downtown one but still a great location and a really friendly place! The breakfast is really good (and free!) and the free water is also an amazing addition. Good social area both sides of the road. Thanks!
State here with a few friends, the rooms were lovely and there was a nice crowd there. The trips they offer are overpriced so I'd advise looking elsewhere for those.
