Not central but neither too far, we slept in the 8 mixed dorm, to have a hot shower you have to turn partially the tap (so not proper pressure), nobody advised about this till when we asked why there was only cold water. Kitchen was full of ants, even on the stove, there were just a few pans, very old and/or broken. The bar on the roof was never open and it did not help to create the right hostel atmosphere, staff was helpful when we asked info but not very smiling.

I stayed at 3 different hostels in Antigua and I found this one to be the best value for money. I wasn't looking for a party hostel though, so look elsewhere if that's your interest. It's a bit further away from the town park square which I think gave it quite a chilled out, quiet atmosphere. The hostel was ran by volunteers that were helpful enough but didn't contribute much to the overall atmosphere of the place. It was clean, secure, quiet, and cheap. Good job Villa Esthela.

Very quite! Very clean. A bit out of the Main Street.

The hostel itself is very nice, clean and with lots of common room areas to relax, which seems to get rare these days in hostels! Unfortunately there is one employee at the place who ruined it a bit for us as he is unfriendly and uncooperative. The only thing we heard him say during our 5 day stay was "do I have to say hello to you?" Wow!!! We would have rated this place much higher if it wasn't for him!

The views were exceptional. The staff were helpful and the dorms were quiet. More specific directions would be helpful!!

Nice, quiet hostel. Decent lockers, a nice kitchen and a great view of the volcanoes from the terrace. The beds are a little bit uncomfortable and it is a little bit far from the centre of town but the price definitely makes up for it.

Great place to stay

The staff was uninterested and seemed to be just day workers. The room was clean and spacious but there was no atmosphere in the hostel despite its roofterrace. The bar was closed, and you had to go out for breakfast. The room was cheap but we expected a little more.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the hostel was quiet just like we wanted. The view from the roof is unbeatable. However, there was no hot water in the showers and the beds were uncomfortable. Not anything a seasoned backpacker can't handle, though.

We loved our stay at villa esthela! The staff is very helpful, they even prepared a free christmas dinner! Kitchen well equipped, though pans are a bit old. If you look for a quiet place, this hostel would be a good choice.Great rooftop

Villa Esthela is a great hostel. Far enough from the center noise but close enough to walk there. Danielle and her staff we super for information and activities. I will return there next time I am in Antigua.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, thank you! We had a fantastic view of the volcano, spitting smoke, from outside our bedroom. Unfortunately the shared bathroom were soaking wet for most of the afternoon and evening - every day. The free coffee and sugar were only available for the first day of our stay and never refilled, but at least they provided facilities to make your own coffee/ food.
