Nice hostel in Santa Teresa. Lovely views over the city from the common area. Nice staff. Bit of a trek to the nearest metro station 25 min walk. You will definitely get some exercise in staying at this hostel!

Place was ok, staff friendly, nice view from bar. Carnival makes lots of things expensive, so you have to have appropriate expectations. Still, not really was a "deluxe" room. It smelled of the toilet from before we arrived, no glass in the windows but was still consistently hotter than outside, rain or shine; ceiling fan didn't help much. Not a room for summer. It appears you have to ask for it to be cleaned, even for the toilet bin (with toilet paper) to be emptied & for two towels in a double.

The view over Rio from the terrace is amazing. And that's about it... The room was super tiny and stuffed with three bunk beds (hosting six people). In most other hostels, single rooms are larger than this dorm. No windows, ac didn't work, and it didn't look or feel very clean. The staff was very friendly but largely consisted of backpackers who just arrived to Rio themselves, so they couldn't give much advice. All in all disappointing

We're sorry you felt the room was small. Actually, most hostels have more than three bunks in a dormitory: it's not unusual to find 9 or 15-bed rooms in Rio. Ours just has 6 beds and an ensuite bathroom, rather than one down the corridor. There was a day or two when the air con in the room failed after a blackout: we're sorry about that, and the problem has been fixed.

The views from the bar/breakfast area were lovely but it really is a residential area with very little to do and a long uphill walk. Bus number 14 does serve the lovely Santa Teresa bars and restaurants (HIGHLY recommend this area) at the foot of the hill and also Lapa (every 15 mins or so). The place felt a little tired (needing a good clean and general refreshment) and we were disappointed given the good reviews we had read...Still I guess it was cheap for a double room (€20 each)...

There is a shortcut that takes just 5 minutes up from the main street - we do our best to ensure it is explained to guests on arrival. Santa Teresa is spread out over a hillside, so yes, you do need to be active to get the best out of it. We have events in our bar at least every week - usually barbecues with live music. But there is pretty much always something going on every night within minutes of us.

A nice little hostel, good for some time to relax also comes with a great view over the city from the bar !! Its is a bit of a walk up and down the stairs from the street to the hostel, bare that in mind if your not able to walk far/elderly ect.. Not a party place, our room was also very hot, but thats rio in January...

Thank you for the compliments on the view and bar. From March we are only going to offer our best double rooms to Hostelworld customers, i.e. the Superior Double with aircon and a view, so the heat won't be a problem and the walk uphill will be more than worth it!

Pretty small room and the wi-fi wasn't great, but nice, calm place with a good view and friendly staff. Loved the area of Santa Marta and felt safe their mostly, although we got robbed in the stairway close to the hostel, so be careful!

Close to the Lapa nightlife. I hope you like stairs

Hostel was a nice villa in Santa Teresa. Easy access by bus to Copacabana, Levlon etc. although the buses took a while to get to the beaches. Staff was helpful and nice, very quiet and relaxing hostel. Recommend for families especially. If you gonna stay there prepare to climb a bit since the hostel is on top of a hill. Santa Teresa was nice, safe bohemian milieu.

The atmosphere at breakfast was ruined by the young boy constantly yelling, chasing and hitting the cats.

Had a lovely stay in Villa Leonor. Thank you for the night of live music and drinks of daiquiri.

Great place to stay, the staff was more than helpful. Anna and others made sure we had a pleasant time. Would definitely stay again, affordable and hidden this hostel allowed for some unforgettable adventures. -Jordan

Nice hostel, nice staff! Thanks Anna for your attention!!

We had a great stay at Villa Leonor. The staff was the friendliest I ever had in a hostel. The view from the outdoor terace was amazing. Breakfast was good and the price for the stay was more than fair. Just could recommend it to everyone. To get there was a little bit rough sometimes, because you had to walk a lot of steps. But therefore you had a quiet relaxing area beside the chaotic and noisy City.

Nice hostel, excellent breakfast and view. Little out of the way so we moved after 3 days but if you want to stay in this location this hostel is a good choice!

A bit uphill but worth it for the view from common/reception area overlooking Rio!! Bbq night on Friday was a lot of fun, amazing food, music, people samba dancing and deliciously strong caipirinhas! Really cheap for all u can eat bbq night aswell!! Resident cats had lots of kittens roaming around which was nice, playing with kittens!! Close to Lapa area with lots of lively bars and restaurants! Would definitely come recommend staying here! Had great time!

The staff were EXTREMELY friendly and know about all the local sambas and low keys happenings. The house is located very well for events over the weekend. Santa Teresa is a very nice neighborhood with small restaurants and bars. We were very happy here!

Really friendly and helpful staff. We were made very welcome. The view from the terrace has to be the outstanding feature of this hostel. Some really nice restaurants close by. Nice and quiet away from the busy streets of the more touristy areas of Rio. This would be my first choice if I ever come back. Thank you. Beds were maybe a little soft for my liking, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. Breakfast was pretty good too. More choice than a lot of other hostels I have stayed in.

The staff at his hostel were incredibly nice and helpful. Thanks for everything David and Anna! They know everything there is to know to have a great time in Rio. Our double room was cleaned every day and the breakfast was really nice. The hostel is far from the beaches and other attractions, but taking buses in Rio is quite easy. The only downside is that the rooms are really small because the building is quite quirky, but we had a great time anyway.
