I stay here many times per year and I love the location, staff, rooms, cleanliness and safety.
The breakfast needs much improvement. The orange water is very bad, so are the muffins and bagels. How about just plain toast ? Do not honor the American Diet, you will lose points!!
And the lighting in the common area could use some cozying up! How about dimmer lights near the fireplace?

It was a great hostel. I would highly recommend it to anyone who was visiting New York. It's very close to subway stops and there are bars near it if someone doesn't want to go too far to have a drink. The stairs are a bit of an exercise, but it's New York. They also have a nice staff. I love this hostel, very clean and warm. I like their break-first too. I would highly recommend this hostel for my friends :-)
Oh by the way, it would be better if they put a bigger sign in front of the hostel. This is a great hostel- the rooms are nice and quiet so no traffic noise disturbs you when trying to sleep and are warm but not hot. Everyday the rooms and bathrooms were meticulously cleaned which was very reassuring and the bathroom was bigger than expected. The stairs are very steep but not impossible. Great location, very clean and nice staff! Also has a good breakfast!
