A nice and cosy hostel with great englishspeaking staff who would do everything to make you feel at home. Lots of things to do on a rainy day, books, videogames and a lot of movies. The dumplingparty and all you can eat BBQ were amazing.

Staff were very, very good and provided much needed assistance, particularly when I needed to catch a taxi. Girls flagged one down on the street and told me how much to pay. This is what you want from hostels, that and there help to overcome the language. Thanks to everyone at Wada! I'll be back again!

Cool place with nice atmosphere. A trip set up by the hostel to rice terraces was an awesome day, did end up costing 80rmb more than they told us however. Great bar/lounge area. Local beer was a bit expensive at the bar 12rmb. Friday night all you can eat barbeque was a fun way to meet other travelers but kind of a rip off. I would definitely reccomend this place if you head to Guilin. Oh and do not do the Lijiang river trip! Nasty river, super rude tour people. Lunc on boat was just rice.

Thank you for staying with Wada, thank you for your feedback. As for what you mentioned about the Rice Terraces, we did mention that the entrance fee not included in our tour book, we didn't know that you didn't read it carefully. As for the Li River Cruise, now it is rainy season in Guilin, a lot of rains before you go, so the water can't avoid become turbid. About the rude tour people, we called the travel agency, they said there would be some misunderstanding for that, cause of the different culture, some Chinese people speak loud to express friendliness. :-) Enjoy your trip. This is a very good hostel. The staff is very nice. The city center is about 20 minutes walk, so it's not so bad. There were two things I didn't like: when I booked I thought I would have WiFi on my bedroom, but it was only in the lobby. And there was a centipede on my bed once. But aside from that it is a great hostel and I highly recommend it.

Hello, Thank you for staying with Wada. As for what you mentioned, actually we have 2 WIFI available in the lobby and the nice yard. Because we hope all of our guests could stay at the lobby to share your travel experience, instead of just staying in your room and spending time on line. As for the centipede, we are sorry for that, because we have a big yard in front of the rooms, so we can't avoid that there is no insects at all, but thank you for telling us that, so that we have a chance to do something for it. Enjoy your trip Wada Hostel

Can't imagine that this is possible for this kind of money:). It's located in walking distance to the bus&train station, very clean (even public restroom) and staff is very helpful. They have great in&out door common area and good bar/restauran.

We only spent one night here as we had other places in the Guilin area to see. However, we liked the place a lot and would have gladly stayed more nights here. The staff spoke English and was friendly and helpful. I booked the place originally because it is a sister hostel to Dragon's Den in the Longji Rice Terraces and I wanted to book a bus through Wada to Longji. We were very pleased that we stayed here and would have gladly returned to use it as our Guilin base.

Stayed here before and will stay again. The staff is wonderful! They will help you with bus numbers for easy touring of the city and any other problem you may have. They were out of beer Lao this time but Uncle Joshua shared some of his bai jiu with me. Gan Bei!

Pros: Clean Excellent English-speaking staff Wonderful bed (best I've slept on so far in china) Plenty of hot water (had the single) Great restaurant/bar Plenty of common areas Great info for travel in chengdu/Sichuan Cons Tons of rooms so it can tend to feel a little crowded

I was disappointed with my one night stay. The staff was not helpful. There were times that 3 people were behind the desk and no one would even acknowledge my presence. The bathroom looked as though it had not been cleaned in weeks. The sheets appeared to be dirty with hairs and stains. The location is terrible. The pros were decent food, good wifi access and nice common area. There was also one helpful staff member who gave me directions before I left.

I am Zhuning, the owner of Wada Hostel. First of all I sincerely apologize for your experience during your stay at Wada. I've investigated the whole issue. About you said no staff noticed your presence, because when you arrived it was very late and there's other 5 guests at the reception, you were behind of them, thats why they didnt see you in the begining. Sorry for that. About the cleanliness I'm quietly sure we clean the room every day, and change beddings for every guest. Other guests who stayed with you at same day and same dorm gave us very good comments about it. I hope theres some misunderstanding. Anyway at Wada our aim is that 100% of our guests are happy, on occasion for whatever reason this may not happen we will treat this feedback with the utmost importance. We always try our best to be the best hostel in Guilin, and lots of guests gave us very positive comments, also everyone helps us to improve Wada. But it's pity that we are still not perfect. Hope you could accept my apology and still enjoy your trip. Safe travels. Zhuning

I booked a double ensuite room, clean & comfortable. Location wasn't that great, far from the action. I booked it 'cause I thought it was near the bus to Yangshou, but it's not. You have to catch the bus near the train station.

Hello, Tuyen. Thanks for your feedback. About the location, we've stated Wada is located close to the train/bus station, it's about 10min waling from the train station. Taking a public bus just in front of Wada to the attractions is about 15mins, and only cost you 1rmb per person. If we are in the downtown everything will be more expensive including rooms. So we have to balance and choose what you really need. Enjoy your trip. Team Wada

Great Location, 10min walk from main train station. Easy to walk to all the sights in Guilin. Staff were very helpful in booking train tickets and writing chinese for me to get to my next destinations etc. Room was clean and spacious, shower and toilet in the dorm which was clean and water was hot. Can't ask for much more for 25RMB a night. Great bar, and friendly safe who kept it open late for us. Cool garden area to sit and chill in also. Would definitely recommend, and stay again.

We didn't actually end up staying at WADA for the amount of time originally intended. This was due to our limited time and wanting to see Yangshuo. The hostel staff were extremely helpful in 1.booking us onto a tour to the Li river and onto Yangshuo, 2. suggesting accomodation in Yangshuo, 3. refunding our nights staying with them so we could stay in Yangshuo instead and 4. looked after are larger bags for us for 2 nights whilst we took only essentials with us. Very helpful and flexible.

On the first day, we felt like this was a standard hostel with average facilities and comfort. On the second day we realised they had fantastic food, friendly staff and very comfy double beds and powerful hot showers. By the third day we were really impressed by the extremely helpful staff, awesome activities and atmosphere and thethat they have more tour options than mentioned on their website- they include more relaxed or less touristed options of the rice terraces and to yangshuo among others
