If you don't mind sleeping between the cockroaches this is the perfect hostel for you! Staff is friendly, location great.

Bathroom area and living conditions were unclean and had a roach problem. Beds were to small and the rooms were not large enough to house 6 people comfortably. They could of also had a common area of interaction set up more neatly with spacious recreation yard. The kitchen had a roach problem where I've seen them in food. Overall the Asian receptionist named 'YO' or something was a bit to unprofessional for the job.Always drinking and behavior and was radical.

The staff at the front desk were helpful in every way. If they werent sure of whatever I inquired about, they did what they could to help. Everything you could need is readily available & there was never a hassle to deal with. The housekeepers were kind and they did a great job. The hostel itself is in a great location + awesome atmosphere. Also a clean kitchen area in the room to store food. Common room was clean & comfortable. My only complaint pertains to rude dirty Eastern European dudes...

Some things annoyed me in that they didnt state on the website: charge for towels ($0.50), make own bed, taxes (~14%) extra not incl., Internet doesnt work inside rooms, no soap or shampoo, some outlets don't work, key deposit is cash only, "Continental breakfast" was bread (THATS IT??) The Pros: Ac was cold, Full size fridge, Good sized tv (At least in private room), Insofar as room #4 the bathroom sink did not drain and the floor was sticky - just be upfront about Bfast & taxes & internet

In this hostel you meet really other travelers. There are more young travelers then older ones. I would suggest, to remove the carpets out of all bathrooms, they are very unhygienical anx please check the beds in room 15. The beer evening is cool.

We had a private room so our bags were able to stay with us and be locked up the entire time. If you stay in the dorm rooms you have to leave your big bags/packs in the office which lowers the security and convenience but it's a great location with super friendly staff and all the travelers we encountered were also very warm and friendly.

Staff were slow and unresponsive. The rooms were pretty dank and mildew and mold everywhere. One half of the hostel seemed really well taken care of while the rest was left alone. The hostel wasn't horrible by any means, just really average. I think it's due to a real lack of competition in Waikiki.

On the first day we arrived at 8am and were told we couldn't check in until 3pm. We were expecting to be told we would have to wait, but not for quite so long. Then we got to our room we found other people had been able to check in at 12pm. The morning/day staff aren't so friendly but the night staff are nice. Room wasn't that secure, it had a door that locked but one of our windows didnt have screening on it and we often just climbed through this rather than find the key. No lockers in rooms.

Great location, close to the beach! Rooms were very clean, beds comfy and had a good kitchen as well. My only complaint would be that the guy working was not very helpful or friendly. Considering guests arriving have probably just gotten off long flights, would have been cool if he was a little more attentive.

The guy from Serbia who works there was creepy. The facilities were clean, location was great! Just not much of a common kitchen area so it wasn't as easy to meet people who weren't from your room. Waikiki Beachside hostel was a lot more of a hostel experience for that, with planned gatherings. It would have been nice if there were spme Planned events or even options for renting beach gear. The beach is a block away and Diamond Head is very close, tons of shopping and grocery stores closeby.
