The Walkabout was very cheap and well located for sightseeing in Manchester. The staff were very friendly in the hostel, but less so in the attached pub. Didn't mind the noise of the club, but I did get annoyed by the people yelling in corridors afterwards. The facilities were great, and towels, beds, bathrooms etc were very clean. The roof/walls were quite filthy with damp/mould, but again it was a cheap & comfortable stay so it wouldn't put me off staying there again.

The Walkabout is an excellent place to spend a night in Manchester, excepting of course that it’s situated above a night club, so that it’s impossible to sleep before 3.00 AM. If you choose The Walkabout, it’s probably best if you’re planning a night on the town, so that you don’t spend the small hours having bass beats drilled into your skull. That aside, the room was clean and tidy, the staff were courteous and helpful, and it was good value for money.

Table top, bedside tables were sticky. I had to clean them before putting any of my things on them. The bed springs were so prominent, they hurt my back - 2 nights of uncomfortable rest. Blinds were hanging off. I had to climb up and reposition them. Part time reception service only.

The bathroom was absolutely stinking, the shower did not work, there was a hugh crack in the bath, there was a lot of black mould behind the toilet..Finally there was tiles missing on the celing,so you could hear the water rushing though the pipes.I appreciate that this was a hostel but cleanliness should still be a must. I am only glad i had to spend only one night in this place

We stayed one night, our room was huge which was nice but the shower curtain needed to be changed. Its a bed and breakfast but we weren't told about any breakfast. The staff was very helpful telling us where things are and what to see.

Reception and staff were awesome! Price's in Bar were decent aswell, though there were a lot of confusion about when happyhour was etc. Room was good, though bathroom in a not so good condition. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for anyone staying in Manchester for a party weekend.

Lift was out of order and bathroom was pretty dirty with a hole in the roof and one bedside table was missing. But the real problem that chocked me was the terrible noise made by the nightclub. I stayed 2 nights but the first one (Sunday) it was impossible to sleep before 4am.. I was rezlly disappointed by that, fortunatly for me my earplugs helped me a little

Spent 1 night in a mix dorm. It was a bit moldy specially the ensuite bathroom and the carpet, both asked for a refurbishing, didn't find dirtiness though. The main isssue was the mattress, it was really uncomfortable, the springs were like nails in my back! Location and downstairs bar were great. I turned up after 4am so don't know about noise. Room was big enough and so the lack of storageroom was not so bad.

Hey the hostel itself is nothing special but the location and the Walkabout bar are really cool. Extremely picky people shouldn\'t go there but when you are a traveller looking for a save and alright place to crush with loads of bars in short walking distance then go there. oh one thing. The mattresses are the most soft ones I\'ve had in 15 years but I was so drunk that it was possible to stand them.

The room was ok, nice size, but we had no toilet paper in the room and there was a massive hole in the ceiling of the bathroom, and this isn't pretty at all ! We felt about insecure about it. We had teabags but no kettle.

The reception is not open all the time, so you can't really ask anything from the staff. There's the Walkabout pub next door and you should go there to talk to the staff. A bit annoying. Couldnt here any noise to 4th floor room from the bar though. Ok and cheap place to stay.

there were old underwear behind the bathroom door, the floor was clearly not cleaned, the sink water was very hard to close and the window too.

I think that for the price and location it is a really good place to sleep. it is true that the bar downstairs will probably keep you awake until four in the morning but other than that i will recommend this place.
