Kitchen was dirty.. Many people left dishes without washing. It's not only staff's fault though. There were not enough bathrooms. There were night clubs nearby hostels, so It was too noisy outside on weekend. I heard one guy who might come from outside cried on corridor one time during the midnight.. I'm not sure about the security.

Great place! Staff is super-helpful, even about the lesser-known places in the city. Adams Morgan is always fun, and this hostel fits the neighborhood perfectly.

The hostel is definitely a hostel I would recommend. I enjoyed my time there and I found it really easy to enjoy my time because of its location. Even though I am not 21 and I couldn't enter many of the night events going on around there I found a lot to do. It was about a 13 min walk to the Metro (since I didn't want to take the bus all the time). The walk is nice and a lot of different food places are on the way there. Many hookah spots on the street and good food.

I stayed for a week in January 2013 and I had a great time! Very friendly staff/travelers. Staff answered questions about buses, museums, cafes, clubs, etc. Free breakfast every morning helped start my day with coffee, fresh fruit, juice, milk, etc. Clean bathrooms and good heater to keep you warm in DC. Thank you staff/travelers made for a great experience in DC. I met several new friends and I look forward to coming back to Washington International Student Center in Washington DC again!

The hostel has a very "homey" feel to it with the living room style reception and single toilet/bathtub bathroom facilities. I liked it. The kitchen/dining room was a little messy and chaotic, but it wasn't too unclean. People were nice and the location was great though a good 15 minute walk from any metro.

I booked this hostel only because at the last moment I had to find a place to sleep, and all the other hostels were already full. The owner and all the people who work at the "reception" are very unprofessional and rude. In the morning you always find people sleeping in the common room, the floor is covered with rubbish and so are the table (see photos). They promise a breakfast from 8 to 10, but the only things you can find in the "kitchen" at that time are several food containers already opene

Nice place to stay. You'll find it hard to tell who lives and works there and who is staying there. Has a guest house feel to it that comes with good and... not bad but different. I sometimes felt like I was an unwanted guest in there home but was tolerated because I had paid them. Don't let that come off too strong though. I had a good time and hung out with the staff more than the other travelers. I'd stay there again if I found myself back in D.C.

The location is excelent! Cleanness, room and bed are ok! The biggest problem is the staff. They're unpolite, don't explain hostel's rules and facilities and aren't at least helpful!!

Washington DC Student Center is a great hostel and you can tell the owner Steve really cares about his staff and is always making upgrades to make it nice and new! I had a great stay here, nice beds, quite sleep, nice bathrooms with good hot water and water pressure. Overall, great hostel in great location near everything that DC has to offer whether it be sights or nightlife you're after this hostel is the best place to stay. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did:)
