If you'd like an authentic experience off the beaten track, you will enjoy a stay at Wild Thyme. A stay in Palamartsa is a step back in time, where horses and carts pass outside your window and you are woken by the shepherd taking the village flock to pasture. Surrounded by rolling hills and an ancient landscape you can relax among folk still living traditional farming lives. Cycle around the village, take a walk to the Thracian hill fort 30 minutes away, fish at the nearby lake or take a swim at Razgrad Lake or Opaka outdoor pool.

On their organic smallholding which includes pigs, goats and chicks, the owners, Claire & Chris, have created a homely eco guesthouse finished in natural materials. Here, life is lived by the seasons and guests can join one of many activities from making cheese to preparing and sampling your own sausages.

There are 2 doubles, 1 twin, 1 family bathroom and 1 ensuite. Eco features include solar power, solar water and an optional composting toilet. Guests have their own private garden with bbq area and relaxing undercover barn, living room, kitchen and dining area. A hearty breakfast made from farm produce is included.

Chris, an archaeologist, has created a number of historical tours to showcase the cultural heritage of this undiscovered region. Visit one of 3 World Heritage sites - for example, Sveshtari Tomb, an ancient Thracian tomb still in pristine condition or the wonderful painted monastries at Ivanovo.

Palamartsa village is a traditional place full of nostalgia for what has been lost in the west. Here you will find horses and carts; welcoming neighbours; a village shepherd; gardens full of vegetables; and preserves being made in the open-air. There is a rich cultural life with its own dancing and music group with plenty of festivals in the summer months.

There are lots of holidays on offer at Wild Thyme including a Herbal Medicine course to learn about the wonderful healing properties of local plants. For that extra bit of relaxation, try a reiki therapy.
