The room was basic, but it was private which was nice. The bathrooms were all very clean and recently redone, which was nice. My biggest complaint is the area. As far as location goes, it's great for getting around the city, but 6th and Market specifically had a high concentration of homeless people, druggies, beggars, etc. It's only a half block walk from the door to Market Street, but it's unfortunate that you can't feel safe coming and leaving your hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful!

Overall a good place to stay! It's literally right off of Market street which makes it quite a convenient location for pedestrians looking to walk and to be in the heart of the city, which it is. The staff were nice and the rooms were decent, include a sink which is helpful; though the bathrooms are outside of the rooms but close by nonetheless. Be prepared that as SF is a major city, just outside of the entrance there is a lot going on with the bars/ clubs nearby, but despite that a safe hotel.

One of the cheapest hostels I could find. Location is good, close to SF downtown, but the street itself can be full of homeless people. Hostel staff keeps the door closed, so no unauthorized access is possible. The rooms itself are simple but clean. If you are looking for something cheap and simple close to the downtown area, Winsor should be sufficient. (Stayed in a private double room)

Great place to stay in San Francisco Downtown. Everything in walking distance. Very nice staff and rooms. Rates are unbeatable!

The price was good and so was the location. The room was a nice size, and the bathrooms and showers were always clean. However, a lot of the time it seemed like the staff would rather be doing whatever else in that back apartment area than helping guests. Also when I ask if I can leave my bags and am told yes, I don't expect they're going to be sitting unguarded in the main hallway for 12 hours!

We are sorry to hear that you felt the staff was not able to help you out when you needed, we will let them know and try to improve on assisting our customers in the future. Currently our luggage storage is under construction, so yes we have had our guest leave their luggage right in the main hallway where we have 24 hour surveillance and we can keep on eye on. We have never had any incidents regarding property being stolen or someone taking the wrong luggage.

You get what you pay for and the fact that this hotel had bargain rooms available city centre when NOWHERE else in SF did should've rung alarm bells. It would be bearable - the lack of atmosphere, shared loos, extremely basic room facilities - if it wasn't in "the city's last bad neighbourhood". I've never felt so unsafe and left early to stay elsewhere.
