Great location. Within 15 mins walk of the main shopping streets and tourism attractions. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and each person had their own security locker. There was no air con (just a fan) which is understandable considering Vienna is only hot for 2 or 3 months a year, however, it was extremely hot in the rooms when I stayed there (mid August).
During the hot weather, my room is unusually hot. Even I open the window and still cannot sleep because of the high temperature. My room is in first floor, I guess higher floor will be better. I can't go back here during summer time, it kill you.
The lounge is a good hostel if you are travelling by train as it is right next to westbanhof station but it's a bit out the way from the main Vienna attractions. The hostel was clean, the staff were friendly and they do a good breakfast. The room was pretty hot and the curtains didn't fit all the way across the window and we had a fan that didn't reach our bed which had no power. But hey it's a good cheap hostel and you can just get trams so happy days!!
This was the first hostel we stayed in with ZERO street noise and we had the windows wide open. the staff were very friendly and helpful. there was easy access to the city. overall we had a great stay and I would definitely recommend staying here!
WICKED HOSTEL! We arrived at 8 in the morning after a horrible sleepless night train and they allowed us to sleep on a massive comfy island in the hostel, just what we needed. We checked in and rooms were great. BREAKFAST WAS AMAZING - €3.90 Only complaints : bar was too hot!!!!! And the wifi was bad
Amazing location and really nice staff made it an enjoyable stay
Really great atmosphere - everything really clean. Hostel very spacious, and people are really friendly. Everything was great, except the wifi is slow/non existent in some areas of the hostel.
Was super hot in the rooms, found out on the last night that all rooms are supposed to have fans and that someone is supposed to check the rooms but we did not have one.
Located very close to westbanhoff train station and a lot of shopping. Walking distance to a lot of beautiful museums and sight seeing. Special lockers that work with door key which was unique. Breakfast wasn't free but it was decent. Staff seemed a little bit clueless as far as recommending nightlife and attractions in the city. Bar has good specials. Overall quite enjoyed the hostel.
They claim to not have air conditioning. Which i think is a lie and they're just profiteering too much to turn it on, even during the longest and hottest heatwave Vienna has ever experienced. It ruins everything good about this hostel. They have nice rooms - but you wake up in a pool of your own sweat They have a cool bar - but it's so hot you end up in a pool of your own sweat The wifi also doesn't work in the common area so you're forced to go up to your 6 person sauna to use it
Air conditioning would have been amazing, although I hear it normally isn't so hot
Went there during serious heat wave. 1 little fan provided and no air-con. Whilst whole Vienna not ready for serious heat it was very uncomfortable @ night plus all the noise outside. But like all wombats its like a little hotel not really conducive to meeting other people. It's for the masses and no family feeling.
This is my third time to come to Vienna, as well as the third time booking my stay at Wombats. The location is good, staff is very friendly and the breakfast is great. It might get noisy in the evening/at night, so if you're looking for a quiet rest, it might not be the best place for you.
The moment we arrived at the hostel, we were greeted so warmly by Erica and Marius, who both did an impeccable job of making us feel welcome immediately. The hostel itself is located so very close to the westbanhoff station, which made it so very easy to find when we arrived in Vienna. The room we stayed in was clean, and the bed was decent, by hostel standards. My only real issue was the wifi. The wifi is in dire need of an upgrade, to say the least. Nevertheless, we loved our stay here!!
Met more people at this wombat hostel in vienna than the nachsmarket one, probably because it is a bit further out so less larger groups and more solo travelers! Great kitchen dining area, cool bar and subway right near the hostel, really enjoyed my stay
The hostel was so hot that it made it virtually impossible to sleep. I think it's fairly expensive for what you get and as someone who usually prefers to stay in smaller hostels I found it a bit impersonal and hotel like. At least there is the bar and a few common areas so you can meet people, it's not bad but definitely not amazing
V. helpful and friendly staff and a good location with easy subway access into the city and a good supermarket right next door to the hostel. Shame about the no aircon but we did know about that before we arrived. Wifi was also rather poor so only worked sometimes.
Awesome hostel! When checking in, the staff was super nice and inviting. The facilities were great and the room was clean. It had a lot of common areas to meet cool people. It's super close to the train station where we arrived and the street that the hostel is on leads straight to the inner city and has lots of shops and food places on the way.
The was terrible. I think you need one more fridge.

I've stayed at both Wombat's and I must say that I much prefer the other one. That's not to say it's not a good hostel. The location of this one is actually better than the other. The bar here was a little dead, but perhaps because it was a week day. Staff are so friendly though!! There's always a helping hand
