Great place that I can highly recommend. The hosting family is fantastic welcoming and helpful. I found it easy to talk to people and if there is no one around the puppy upstairs will for sure talk to you:-) The big market area around the hostel is nice to get lost in (and you might).

This hostel is in a great location, about a five minute walk from zhongshan tourist street, Taiwan snack street, and the ferry to Gulangyu. Because it's located in a back alley, you might have some trouble finding it, but you'll probably end up enjoying yourself as you walk through the maze of houses, chicken cages, and shops. I found the beds and facilities pretty standard for China. All around, a good place. Thanks!

+: Maggie (hostess) is amazing, speaks spotless English and helps with everything you ask for -: No airconditioning: incredibly hot and humid, almost impossible to sleep -: You sleep on a wooden bord (HARD) -: Not clean at all: showers/toilets smell very bad, rooms floors are dirty (hair, dirt) and no towels provided -: Smokers in common area, whereas the rooms are next to it -: For Western travelers: this is nothing like the good quality hostels you might encounter in travel guides

Overall okay, however toilet lights did not work properly, but if your on the 2nd floor you MUST LOCK YOUR WINDOWS, as on our very last night around 430am we saw a wooden pole come through our window and try to hook/ steal away our valuables. Luckily we were not fast asleep and managed to ward it off. Maggie the owner is very helpful and can help you arrange tours or places to visit in xiamen!

This hostel is located in a really interesting area. Right in the old town with interesting markets all around, lots of great food and few tourists. Also quite close to the Gulangyu Island ferry and the airport shuttle. Maggie, the owner is really friendly and helpful. Only problem I had was no A/C in the 2 bed dorm room, and it was really hot. But I think most other rooms have A/C. Overall, a really great place to stay in Xiamen.

Location is perfect, 10mins walk from the ferry and good bus connections. If coming from the North train station take the BRT bus from the station to Xiahe Lu, costs 4.5RMB, we took a taxi and it was close to 100RMB.

Anyone staying in Xiamen should stay here! The location in old town is great if you're into seeing 'real' old china and the people and the markets. Its close to food stalls as well which is perfect. The staff are very friendly and helpful, make you feel at home. I would stay here again!

The location is the best thing about this hostel, right in the middle of a marketplace. It is owned and run by a very friendly family. Facilities are basic, but in order, aircon in the rooms. I would go back.

Really nice family-run hostel. The owner Maggie is a really nice lady trying to help you whenever possible. The location is in the real old part of Xiamen en the deck terrace offers a nice view of old and new Xiamen. The hostel was clean, not great but not bad either. Wifi was working very good. Atmosphere was good, although there weren't a lot of travelers around. Food options all around the place, which makes of for the lack of breakfast/dinner offered here. And indeed, little Adia is adorable

We stayed at the Xiamen Old Town Hostel for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The owner Maggie was extremely helpful, speaking to the taxi drivers and chatty and friendly. The hostel is cosy and welcoming and gives a real impression of traditional chinese life. Situated in a great part of town close to the waterfront and Gulangyu Island. Great choice for a budget stay!

I really enjoyed staying here! It was a great location next to an awesome food street! Was so cool! And was great living down these little alley ways! It was fine to find the place.Just make sure you print the email out and get the Chinese address. Its right next to the BRT perfect for me as I was arriving from Xaimen North Railway Station. Met some cool people there and there are alot of places close to get a few drinks. Adia the kid was so cute! Such a great hostel and a great experience!!
