Had two double bed rooms. One was decent with a window out onto the back alley, the other had no window in it other than a small bathroom window (stuffy room). It was incredibly hot and sticky at night and the air conditioning wasn't turned on yet for the summer. I am not that fussy about heat usually, but it was intense. Worst Part: Got up at night to turn a fan on and used my phone to light the room. On the floor 3 big cockroaches scurried away in different directions. Slept poorly

We have an amazing time in this hostel ! We have a really good contact with the staff, who was really friendly and helpfull ! It was really a pleasure meeting so nice and welcoming persons ! The location is very well situated, the old town is really charming and close from everything ! It was clean and you can cook ! We really felt at home ! Don't forget to go to the roof top, the view at night is amazing ! If we have the opportunity to come back in Xiamen we will for sure come back here !

You will find a very nice hostel (in case you'll find it :-) ) with a very helpful and smart english-speaking staff. Be polite to them! ;-) The location couldn't be better, even thoguh it is really not easy to find it alone by yourself. It is clean and also has a nice rooftop for relaxation evenings... 100 % recommended...

Well located right by the BRT. Nearby lots of eats. The staff was delightful, the hostel clean and comfortable enough. Nice place, though I was the only guest at the time, so meeting other travellers wasn't a possibility.

If you are looking for an authentic old town experience, this is the place. The place is very clean, I saw them cleaning in the early morning and later in the afternoon. The staff is nice and one of the owners is a native English speaker. Very helpful in a country where few people speak English. I liked the common areas with free tea and the great view from the rooftop. Compared to other hostelss in China has a very pleasant environment and is an exceptional value.

Xiamen Old Town was amazing! After somehow finding our way through the alleys, getting there and back was a great little adventure. The rooftop was a great place to start (or finish, if you're quiet) the evening. The open setting made it easy to meet other travelers and share adventures in the city. The bathrooms and showers were fine by hostel standards, really. I'm looking forward to my next trip back to Xiamen and Old Town.

Great hostel, with great charm. I'd highly recomend using the roof terrace, its got great views and is a great place to hang out with your friends, and as long as your not to rowdy the owner won't mind how late you stay up there. The description of the hostel is misleading, and i'd recommend ignoring it. It suggests that it smells, which it doesn't, I just think its a reaction to a previous bad comment. It is a bit tricky to locate, but once you find it you'll have no problem finding it again.

Pros: It was quiet an adventure finding this hostel, but at least its located near the harbor. The owners are nice and helpful. Cons: The biggest problem is the fact that there are only two restrooms in this place. This results in long, long backup since both shower and toilets are not in separate stalls. Given that its in old town, you will hear strange noises at night from the alley cats and cleanliness could be improved somewhat. Being in old town is no excuse.

basic hostel for back packers traveler, we slept in a double room with private toilet. Very basic condition and expensive for what we got (we went during chinese new year and the price was higher then usual). good location in the middle of the old town.

I LOVED staying here! My dad and I were travelling together, our plane was delayed so we showed up a day early and she put us up in a private room, and let us stay there! She was so sweet-answered every question. Went on the day trip to the Tulou (worth it!). Yes, like her review says-it stinks, but only in the bathroom. Nothing was wrong with this place at all. This was my second time in Xiamen and I'll have to stay there again!

After the first moments in this beautiful place I realized that I could't leave it only after a few days. I decided, then, to spend my last 3 "Chinese weeks" in Xiamen Old Town Hostel. Why?! Many reasons helped me in this decision: the location is really convenient, and not only because of the position (really central and quite, with many markets around), but also because of the atmosphere inside the hostel/house itself! It's like being in a warm family, which is what I was looking for :)

Rooftop was not as exciting as we had hoped. Folks who run the place were friendly and helpful. Good location in the old part of town.

Great hostel! It's a family business & the owners are very kind. Located in a maze in a very old traditional area, the location at the East on Xiamen is great. There's a market around you everyday to buy all kind of CN food. Restaurants are nearby as well as a street dedicated to yummy Taiwanese snack food. The ferry pier to Gulangyu & Kinmen Island (Taiwan) are nearby too. Downside: Internet is unstable & slow, the neighborhood can be very noisy in the morning, but it's not the Hostel's fault.

Actually i never expected a hostel in this kind of disgusting surrounding. we couldnt find the hostel. actually we paid 129RMB per Person, so our expectiations were quite high. but nevertheless it was a small empty house. we paid. then we saw the room. the first thing we noticed was: "we dont refund the rest of room pay if you cancel the reservation at the period of stay" in red letters. it was smelling in the room like fungi so i think it was not good for health to sleep there. Facilities dirty

I had a nice experience there. The market of the local foods is very near. Hostel itself had a public PC I could use to make Skype calls, a kitchen I was very grateful for and a rooftop just to chill out.

A paying couch surfing venue. Basic facilities. Maybe it's off peak season but somehow the environment is not exactly ideal for interactions.
