Loved the view from my room and loved the pizza!

Pros: Great location, beautiful view from many rooms and from rooftop lounge area. Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Leo who helped us apply for our Vietnam Visas to have waiting for us in Nanning. Close to street restaurants where a huge plate of egg fried rice is only 6-8Y. Cons: WAY overpriced cafe in lobby (10in pizzas were 30Y+, pot of milk tea was 20Y!). One staff member was condescending and rude when we arrived, to the point where we almost left the hostel.

Staff was helpful enough, not extraordinary, but still adequate. Mosquitos were a problem, the hostel kept their doors open all the time and I was simply attacked. The pizza oven was superb and we liked the movies shown ate night.

This is an absolutely great place to stay. The views are amazing especially from the rooftop. The rooms are very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Ideal time to stay here is 3 or more days.

The location is great. The pizza is also great but consider expensive for small town.

Loved this place - very relaxed. In the lovely little village of xingping which is quieter than yangshuo. One day just spent the day on the rooftop, admiring the view of the karst mountains, and relaxed in the hostel watching films on the big screen. Bliss. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Very nice place. Near to the river and the mountains. Pizza is OK. Movies on the evenings (not much else to do in Xing ping after Nightfall). Cheap beer.

I love this hostel. The staffs are young, dynamic, helpful and friendly. We stayed two nights here. The room and facilities are in good condition. The view at the rooftop especially sunrise and sunset are superb. I found a cockroach on my bed but overall the room is quite clean. Otherwise, I'll give a 100%.

Great hostel with very helpful staff with good english speaking skills. Great rooftop (all it needs is a bar up there) with some amazing views. Really nice pizzas, supercheap beer, clean rooms. What more could you ask for? :)

the location was good and the place was cozy. The bathrooms were pretty clean, but there wasn't always Toilet paper and only watery soap. The roof deck is a nice touch. There were too many kids there for it to be considered a youth hostel..maybe it's more family oriented.

Very central to everything in Xingping town. The staff were very friendly and the pizza is excellent. If you want a more authentic experience of village life then this is a great place to stay and explore. There's lots of villages nearby that are easy to get to where there are no other tourists around - just be patient with the quality of the maps - they are not very detailed and it's easy to get lost, although that's part of the fun.

We stayed in a twin room with balcony which was really nice. It can get bit noisy from all the shuttle busses during the day. The staff was okay - not more. The pizza was fairly good. We did not like there cafe which is about 5min away.

Excellent view from the rooftop terrace! Best location, very helpful and friendly staff. Large, clean rooms and yummy pizza! Try to get a room that doesn't face the street (mountain view). It is extremely noisy with traffic early in the morning.

I unfortunately stayed only one night in Xing Ping at This Old Place, and if I had my time over, I would have stayed longer and not bothered going to Yangshou. Fantastic location, staff were very helpful. Could easily use as a base for visiting the district, and catch the local bus to Yangshou etc. The pizza is to 'die for' and the This Old Place restaurant round the corner serves fab food. Overall 9/10.

This Old Place is definitely a great hostel to stay in Xingping. All staff are nice and helpful. The bike-trip in countryside was a lot of fun and the peak view on Laozhaishan was marvelous.

Very nice hostel, could come here again if I had the chance. Xingping is a very small little town, great way to "get away" for a couple of days.

Amazing location, not so convenient if you want to stay in Yangshuo at night
