Xingping This Old Place International Youth Hostel Reviews

Really nice place with a great view. The staff are very friendly, helpful and their English is excellent. The place is 1000x better than YangShuo as it is not as touristy, but it is also easy to find places to go and see. There are regular buses to Yangshuo that cost 7 RMB, just beware that the last bus leaves YS at 18:40 or so, after that you'll need a cab (roughly 110RMB). Go there before the trainstation from Guangzhou opens in 2014! We brought our two kids (6mths and 5½yrs) and it was great!

Only thing missing is in room wifi. I suspect that is to foster community gatherings in the common areas, but it's still kind of a pain if I want to research where I'm headed next.

I feel like spending a year in this hostel after my graduation to do some writing and meet international friends. A really cozy place making you feel like home.

Hand made pizzas are very good. There are a lot of information about the activities in xingping (bamboo hiking...)

Great place to stay if you wanna get away from Yangshuo for a few days. We stayed at a 4 bed dorm in the new building. It was very clean and nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The reception/lobby was freezing though so movie night with pizza was not so tempting but we still did it because there was no internet connection in our room (the new building).

for the best mountain sight-seeing by motorized or gondola-style rafts, or even down-sized white river rafting (summertime only) xinping town beats yangshoa or guilin hands down. with absolutely no bar scene here, this very small town attracts the eco-loving types (mostly nordics, germans and uni chinese girls). reception girls are lovely in face and personality, rooms n beds are spotlessly clean. bus ride from YS is bumpy though (7 rmb, one hour), so try to sit beside a loved one!

I had a great time ! It is a perfect place to stay ... Good and cheap food , they play movies on a big screen in the lobby all day long ... Very well located at only 40 minutes by bus from Yangsho ! If you are looking for a quiet place next to Yangsho, don't hesitate a minute, this place is for you. Beautiful landscapes around, quiet at night. You can get Yangsho on a day trip easyly ;). A big thank you at the Xingping " this old place " for a great stay , and carry on that way !!!

I stayed 2 nights in this hostel. It is just a great place to stay with a great staff and good food. You can book that place without hesitating. It is perfectly clean , quiet , they play movies all days long on a big screen in the commun area , you get nice pizzas . What to say ? It is one of the best place I have ever been before and great value for your money. I highly recommend this old place youth hostel for sure! This place is a great deal at 17 km from Yangsho only. You have to stay there, it is such a nice place - the rooms are clean, the beds are soft and the staff is really nice and helpful!

Best hostel in China, location is amazing with great views from the rooftop area. Staff are amazing and friendly, always offer assistance and information on hiking routes and river cruises. Defs worth getting out of Guilin and Yangshuo to visit Xingping. Phenomenal city. Also make sure you try the wood fire pizza and the chocolate and banana pancakes for breakfast at the cafe next door. Hopefully one will come back !!

A great hostel with a friendly english speaking staff. We had to extend our stay partly because of this hostel. Can only recommend this place.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The rooftop terrace was very scenic and they had laundry and dryer facilities. Movies every night at 730pm!! Staff was helpful and friendly. Will stay here again if I'm ever in Yangshuo/Xingping again.

Nice hostel, nice staff and cheap beer! The bikes a bit crapy though, haha

Amazing Hostel in a beautiful little town. Great location with an great view over the river. Has been my most enjoyable time so far in Asia.

We stayed here on New Years. The staff was really helpful, they helped us organize a bamboo boat ride. The view from the roof was really scenic. They went out of their way to make a white Russian for us at the bar :). I would totally recommend this place, it took about an hour to get there from Yangshuo but I thought it was worth it. We were a little worried by the bus ride from Yangshuo but we were pleasantly surprised by XingPing's character and small town feel.

Keep up the good work! The hostel has a decorative ambience, is extremely clean and our room was comfortable . They offering delicious pizza, splendid view on roof terrace and very cozy atmosphere.

AWESOME! everything perfect, from staff to rooms. The town is very cute.
