The location is great, and the staff is very friendly. Their home drawn maps would benefit from some improvements though... The single rooms are small and a bit stuffy and do not have any safety boxes, but the price is good. The oven baked pizzas are excellent!
Perfect base for Xingping, away from the busyness of Yangshuo. The staff are lovely and the pizzas are excellent. A room away from the road would reduce the noise of the bamboo ladies offering their services in the morning- worth asking for! The hiking and biking from the hostel is fab- just make sure the brakes work on the bike, ours didn't!
Really a cool place, in the bottom of hill, nice vue, a good place too stay
As there are very few options in Xingping this one is ok. The little things are eventually the ones that make the difference, my bathroom was clean which is very rare in China, but the fabric which covered the cupboard was filthy with blood stain, why? This was disgusting!!! As I had a bit of concussion with my booking, the girl at reception very defensive and maybe correct, but not a friendly welcome. They need to be more sensitive to travellets, and not impose the tough cold Chinese attitude
Overall good hostel. Comfortable beds, great vibe with the pizza oven and many places to sit and relax. The staff is friendly and mostly helpful. One down side is that it's located right on a main street so there's traffic noise in the morning, and you can hear it from the rooms and from the lobby. But all in a all a very nice place.
First of all, if you're planning on going to Yangshuo to see the beautiful mountains and the river you should go to Xingping! This hostel is nicely located in Xingping town. It has a big common area where they also serve woodfired pizza, and where it is easy to meet other backpackers. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and have many suggestions to activities you can do such as hiking, biking and going on the river. I stayed in a single room, and the bed was soft and comfortable.
I planned to stay there for just 2 nights but ended up for 5 nights and became their voluteer for 2 more weeks. They worked hard to provide backpackers a friendly, comfortable, and relaxing place to stay. They gave me an unforgettable memory and maybe in the future I would go back one more time. Absolutely a perfect place to stay!!!
We loved the place. That sums it up quite well. Nothing to complain, air conditioned rooms and a great pizza.

A lovely hostel on the river with great views, good pizza served all day, and clean rooms. Our private room was ever so slightly too small for two tall people with backpacks but not a huge deal. A relaxed and welcome alternative for those wanting to escape China's cities for a while and skip more touristy towns like Yangshuo. A great base to enjoy the beautiful surroundings with minimal hawking. Tip: the hike from 9 horses forces you onto a boiling concrete road and just isn't worth it!
