The beds were hard and uncomfortable but the facilities were very clean.

The hotel itself isn't anything special, but it's clean, considering the price the rooms aren't too cramped and have all the facilities one would expect, including a fridge. The best thing about the hotel however is the location: very close to the main railway station, two subway lines and the main bus station. Also the 2-28 Memorial Park, the National Taiwan Museum and the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial are within walking distance, as is the Ximending area.
