YHA Auckland was a great place to stay - good location and easy to get in and out at anytime. The dorm room however was quite small and the beds small, in hind sight I would have prefered a dorm with bunks and more people for less money. Also the towels smelled like bleach. I think the wireless should be free even to non-members. But - all in all it was a good place to stay and I will def stay there again.

Great stay, clean and staff make things really easy for guests. Location is ok, being near Queen St is good but being at the top of a really steep hill

Hostel was located in the centre of Auckland & 25 minute walk from the harbour area. Hostel was a converted office block & lacked character. The 2 bed dorm was reasonably priced & perfect for any couple travelling. There were the usual kitchen, common room facilities & 2x showers per floor. Hostel was kept in a clean condition. Staff were quite poor during the check-in process. Received free WI-FI on arrival due to being YHA members. Laundry & luggage storage available @ $3 per locker.

Stayed 1 week in this hostel. Not the best YHA in New Zealand but definitely good value for money. $20 a night is just great. I was upgraded from a 8 dorm room to a female 4 dorms. Staff is great , room is very clean and nice (just like in any YHA hostel). Good to stay since I came back there 3 times. You've got proper best, not twin beds which is good, more confortable. Common facilities are just perfectly clean.

Horrible building and atmosphere but good location near park en queenstreet. We had room 202 with multiple very noisy airco's right outside the window, the staff was very kind to switch us to a more quiet room. Sheets with stains though...

Its a good place to stay, friendly, clean and everything you need. However it is not a small cozy backpackers, it is a big chain hostel, practical but no atmosphere. Organisation of booking can get mixed up at times, however solutions are provided.

The dorm I stayed in was gross, the sheets were stain and the carpet. There was on one outlet and that was behind a person bed. It was also right above the main door so smoke was coming in all the time. I change to a double room and it was much cleaner.

The hostel's location is very convenient. Is is an easy walk from city centre and the Airport Bus is just outside the hostel. The room was comfortable and clean, facilities were good and the staff very helpful.

Room got super hot but there was no fan, and all the windows had signs asking us not to open them. When we did anyway, we were treated to drunken carousing on the street below. Only one outlet in the entire room, and it was by one of the beds, so anyone who wanted to charge things had to put their stuff there. Only two toilets and one shower for all the women on the entire floor. The staff were very friendly, and the kitchen was massive, no problem getting food made during dinner rush.

I like the hostel very much. I was in a 4 bed room, even if I booked a 5 bed room I and pay for that. :) There was nice single beds and place to put your belongings on. The location of the hostel was high up on Queen street, which means that you have to go up to the hill, but I like to walk so it was just a good exercise.
