A little far from the city centre - first time travellers or those with less intention for a long walk might be better taking the bus from the train station (U18, other stops in the city centre as well). We had a private twin room in the main building and the toilets were just outside our door - very convenient. Breakfast slightly expensive - you could find £2 cooked breakfast in the university's cafe not too far away. Curfew is at 11pm.

Hostel was within easy walking distance to town. Nice that they had a restaurant that could cater for dinner and breakfast meals should you wish at a price that was not unreasonable. Disappointed that a private room for two only had bunk beds.

A beautiful place to stay. Quite a hike uphill from town but at least you are working off the beer. We stayed in a private room right next to the eating area and a group of people stayed up laughing and talking till 2am. That is my only complaint!

The YHA is a bit outside of Bath, but not far at all. When you're arriving it feels like you're in one of the Jane Austen movies, soooo beautiful! You have a great view in the green garden and have breakfast in an old tearoom! The rooms and beds are very comfortable, I loved the big feather duvet :) Unfortunately two of three toilet door locks were broken, but the shower was hot and powerful! All in all: A very good stay!

Located a long walk from the city centre up a steep hill. Looks nice on the outside but institutional feel on the inside, like most YHA hostels. 2PM check-in rule. Tiny yet functional rooms.

Really friendly hostel, with good amenities. We booked a twin room and had our own ensuite bathroom which was good, kitchen was close by and location was excellent (although we gave up the long walk up the hill and used the regular buses up and down into the centre after the first night!) My only criticism would be the creaky bunk beds we had in our room... I was on the top bunk and woke my fellow traveller up every time I moved.. they could be a bit more sturdy!

For the price of this hostel I would question value for money. Rooms are basic (but clean and comfortable) and the bathrooms are very small. The hostel itself is in a beautiful old building out of city so expect and good walk to get home, however the views from near the hostel over the city are really pretty. The kitchen and dinning areas are great if you are looking to do your own cooking.

All good. Although, they need to provide an option for late check ins...

That woman in the reception was totally lovely. That's what I thought.

We stayed two nights here end of February and the toilet near our room was not cleaned during our stay. This was quite obvious as the toilet was to dirty even to look at. In addition there was lack of cooking gear. Normally I enjoy staying in a hostel, I never felt any reason to complain. This is the first time. Fortunately the other visitors during our stay were very nice and gave us some good memories. Els

Although the walk was a long, the hostel made up for it in many ways. We were happy to see so much space for lounging and the added bonus of an on-site bar. The grounds are beautiful and the location does get you away from the noise and bustle of the town.

It is a beautiful building! The location is a bit difficult to find. Everything else is normal YHA standard. I would stay at another time's visit.

We found this hostel to be a wonderful experience. The building is gorgeous and has lots of period features, like a fireplace in the spacious womens dorm room that we stayed in. It was very affordable, however, they charge you for absolutely everything, including WIFI, which is 5 GBP to use 24 hours, kind of a bad deal. Its a quick bus ride from downtown or you can take a taxi for cheap if you get lazy. The common areas are nice and the kitchen is enormous. I would definitely stay here again.

This hostel was extremely disapointing!!! Nothing was included in the price (10p per 10mins internet, 2pounds a towel, washing extremely expencive) There was no microwave, and the kitchen was very basic and old. The rooms were dusty and musty. The staff lost my friends expencive dress suit. It is a min half hr walk into the town down a quite steep hill. The driveway is unlite which makes it dangerous as there are many tripping hazards etc. Overall, it was really poor... I would not go back

Our family were reasonably happy with the hostel - the room and bathrooms were clean, and the kitchen reasonably well equipped. Major concerns for us were the absence of a lock on our building ('The Lodge') and a very musty smell in our room which was greatly improved by opening a window.

Lovely stay and great staff. If i was to give some constructive feedback, I Thought the breakfast (£ 4.95 and dinner deals were perhaps a little pricey... ( £7/8... could have easily got a meal at a nearby pub for around the same price if not cheaper.

I really enjoyed my stay. Hostel was clean and staff were very friendly.... Bathwick Hill is a tough climb up to the hostel though. I think this should be mentioned on info page.
