Good location, really old, really musty. Entire places smells like wet mold, okay if you're there for a short while. Not comparable to other YHAs, they're usually newer than this. Come with low expectations and turn a blind eye to most things and you'll be fine.

Didn't see any lockers. Bathrooms were clean. Nice sitting area. Charged for wi-fi (slightly expensive so I used my phone 3G instead). Nice staff. The one thick blanket provided was not nice for the really warm nights. A sheet would have been better.

Basic but clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to the train station which was great but pretty far from the city centre.

The reception and the cafe staff were very friendly and helpful, and took an interest in guests as individuals. Everything was immaculately clean, in the bathrooms, bedroom, and common areas. I was only there overnight, but found it a really sunny, comfortable place to be.

YHA claims to be about helping youth experience the world, but having stayed there, I feel they're all about ringing every last pence out of their lodgers. I've only stayed in a few hostels, but they've all had breakfast and free wifi included. Breakfast isn't expected to be fancy, toast and cereal, but it should be offered. I was not impressed by YHA, and do not think I'll stay with the chain again.

Very dirty hostel. The carpets probably have never been vacuumed. The showers have no extractors and so the place smells like mold. Overall, not a place for people with allergies. The staff was nice though.

Close to station and only a short walk to town. Clean room and good staff. Highly recommend.

Overpriced YHA is the worst hosteling organisation in the world they don't cater to young backpackers like the plaque on the building wall says. They try and turn backpackers in to flashpackers upselling everything and providing nothing. Breakfast is an expensive fry up. This is not what backpackers want. WiFi is a travelling necessity and should be free everywhere. Do you charge customers for running water? Do yourself a favour and stay well away from YHA in England they are always Overpriced

We only stayed one night, but everything was fine. We were in a private twin room, which was very clean. The showers we also clean and the toilets weren't too bad, but by the end of the morning, they were starting to need a cleaning.. We had breakfast downstairs in the cafe, which wasn't amazing, but it was adequate, convenient and very filling. We slept well as it was surprisingly quiet for a hostel on a Saturday night - which was very much appreciated after a busy day!

Keep in mind that you have to pay £3 extra per night if you aren't a YHA member. I didn't know that when I arrived and was pretty surprised.

Wifi is ridiculously expensive. Within walking distance to downtown but about 20 minute walk. Poorly equipped kitchen.

Overall good except for the amount of stairs you must climb to get to your room. It's unbelievably complicated with luggage. The bathroom was clean but the lightbulbs needed changing because it was always flickering.

When I couldn't find the shed for my bike in the evening, the lady behind the desk was very unkind, she shouted at me. There was no drinking water on my room, there was no electicity point on my room i could use for my mobile. The interior was very poor, I would nobody recommend this hostel. (Unlike for example st pauls in london, which was much better) What was good was that it was very near the station.

YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING. This is by far the biggest drawback of this place. I could deal with the 15-20 minute walk to city center and the less-than-awesome ambiance. But the fact that you have to pay for breakfast AND internet ON TOP of a YHA membership or temporary membership AND a locker (if you want to use one, 2 quid every time you open it!) is just ridiculous. Honestly, for what I paid, it would have been worth staying somewhere nicer and more expensive with free b-fast and net.
