Love the free soup! Great common area and excellent staff- one even lent us one of his personal DVDs when the library didn't have the movie we wanted. Great hostel. Would definitely stay there again. Room was also well equipped for cold weather.

Really loved the cosy lounge area which encouraged interaction and the little initiatives like hair dryers in bathrooms, free soup, daily movie screening with popcorn and loan of umbrellas.

A fairly good hostel to stay in Frans Josef, though not much competition in the area. The staff could have been more enthusiastic behind the counter but no major problems.

Great location! The hostel was very clean and had a big kitchen and common area. The dorm room I stayed in was a good size and very clean. Only downsides was the very cold corridors and it didn't seem like there were enough showers. Luckily the hostel was pretty quiet so it was ok, but I can imagine if the hostel was full it could be a problem.

friendly and very helpful staffs...Good location!!!!

Nice place to stay for a few nights.

A good hostel. Nice people staying there. No free wifi in almost all hostels in New Zealand. Why??

As always in YHAs no lockers in room. Room needed to be locked manually which of course nobody did, so room always open.

Its fairly cheap, has a sauna, is always clean and the kitchen (my favorite) is big enough to have a bunch of people cooking at the same time.

Good YHA - comfortable dorms. The kitchen was quite overcrowded at times though.

I only booked here because it claimed to have free wifi - only for members! tried to get staff to help me book another hostel with yha for my next stop (only out of desperation) and was told to come back later by which point all beds had gone. won't use yha again if i can help it!
