YHA Hamilton Microtel Reviews

Booked this online really last minute, was excellent value for money got a private double room with ensuite for not much more than the cost of a dorm, and for significantly less that we've paid for private rooms in other places. The reception was due to close at 9pm so we were phoned to find out what time we were going to arrive, and the guy on reception said he would have waited for us, despite having had no dinner! Excellent customer service, excellent room, just sorry we couldn't stay longer.

Daniel is a very good host/manager/owner. If I were to travel to Hamilton again I would definitely stay at the YHA!!!!

They ended up missing out booking from hostelworld and not having a room for us to stay in. They were very nice about it and put us up in the hotel across the street! It was great luck for us and a welcome surprise:)

Clean hostel with comfortable beds. Way too far from town for a pedestrian; I felt very uncomfortable walking back from town after dark because the road was mostly deserted. Long walk from the bus station and located on the highway. Staff was okay, but not very enthusiastic.

Terrible Place. Minimum security with all access doors left wide open after dark. Smell of smoke and marijuana in the corridors. Rooms were tiny with no plug sockets. The rooms were freezing. After checking in and staying in the building approximately 30 mins we left and found accommodation elsewhere. Nobody in reception at this point to speak with and seek a refund. We just left the keys back at reception. Avoid this place if at all possible

The room smelled like new white paint, which could pass as both good and bad for me. The TV remote control was not functioning properly, but I was able to use the TV monitor buttons.
