YHA Hamilton Microtel Reviews

I may be biased, as I was upgraded to a four bed ensuite straight away, but this hostel was one of the nicest I've stayed in. Very clean with a nice kitchen/living area including a cinema room. The location is close to the center of town and supermarkets and Global Gossip wifi is always a bonus: $5 for 24hrs unlimited. The staff were friendly and helpful, my only criticism is that the front desk was unmanned most of the time. Had to leave my key instead of checking out properly.

Handy enough to town but road noise all night is a problem. Busy road, busy intersection. The fact that the length of the room is the same as the length of the bed is not good. My head was jammed against one wall and feet against the other. Only a problem I guess if you are tall.

We were a bit sceptical about the hostel, when we read the reviews... But it's really cool. Nice rooms, the kitchen was clean (better than those in Welly). And there is a free bus just few minutes away, so yiu can get to the city quite easily!

Very dodgy place, comfortable rooms, interior parking, location is OK. Staff looked unprofessional and werent helpful at all. It looks like a rundown motel, nothing special about it.

Staff was never there! I needed to check in, no one at the counter. Needed Internet, no. One at the counter. Needed to check out, no one at the counter! Lounge was okay, with lots of information, but besides that nothing helpful or useful. Absolute dump really, although I never would have stayed in Hamilton at all if I could have helped it so I guess it just fits the dump of a town. Should have been cheaper for the lack of anything.

While the room was very good and the cleanliness was fantastic the attitude of the staff member called Sam was terrible. He was so unfriendly and rude that we actually tried to leave and find another place to stay. He was very unwelcoming and off-hand when he arrived, wouldn't show us the room and demanded payment before we looked at the room. He said we would have to pay if we liked the room or not and even if we left. It was horrible!!!!!!

Everything went real smooth. Staff was great.

rooms are dirty and smell, shower was too small, we had a big hole in that door. everything was really simple only good thing was the home cinema. I would come here for an overnight-stop but not longer.
