We stayed here as there wasn't an affordable hotel in this area. However, it was more expensive than the hotels we stayed at the night before and after, for a much poorer room. The bed was not comfortable - not enough pillows and you couldn't lean back eg to read, have a cuppa, and the lighting was poor. Also, there were no towels, and you needed to go outside to make a cup of tea in the self catering kitchen. Maybe it is unfair to compare to a hotel - however, we were charged hotel prices.

Have stayed at Hartington before and it didn't disappoint. Lovely area and can walk from the door, which we did, in thick snow. always good to visit the cheese shop nearby.

Absolutely lovely! Felt as if we were part of a country house weekend and enjoyed every minute. The boot room/drying room was generous, games room fun, kitchen/selfcatering had everything we wanted and the location unbeatable, walking from the door out into the Peak District, what more could anyone ask for? And so reasonable! We had the 6 bed family rooom with acres of space. Thanks to all for a fabulous weekend.
