Great place, beautiful old building and location = exactly what we wanted. Had to walk a while with our backpacks from Hawkshead town to get there because we didn't have a car. The staff were ace, especially the lady with dreads at the front desk who made sure we were happy and was willing to chat. There weren't lockers to put anything big or small but I just locked my bag and was happy with that. Lots of families. Not many young people. Perfect for our hiking trip. Breakfast/food options great!

I soent a night in Hawkshead with my son and daughter, separate dorms.Pleasant view plus adjoining camping area, a very nice separate kitchen and plenty of space to cook and eat. Also a bar, so you can buy beer/wine on site. The staff were very heloful in directing us to a local lake (National Trust) where we enjoyed walking around and skimming stones . Also in writing information for places to see on the onward journey. The village is much bigger than I realised, though a little touristy.
