Easy to find (keswick ain't that big) right by a river. It's an odd thing but every time I stay at a 'youth' hostel, I'm the youngest by a decade or more and I'm 30! floor boards are very squeaky which makes sleeping difficult when early hikers are up. Staff were just okay, didn't get the full intro to the town with map and tips that I've grown accustomed to. All that said, I'd love to come back to lakes district and I'd happily stay here again.
The hostel is in a great location, near to the town centre and all the outdoor activities that the lake district offers. Beds are very comfortable, clean toilets and showers etc. However this hostel isn't really a "youth" hostel. People of all ages staying here and the majority are here for hiking etc so most people have early rises. Not a place for hanging out, meeting people and drinking etc. However lots of pubs within a 5 min walk and no curfew - just try not to wake the other angry guests!
I really enjoyed my stay at YHA Keswick. The staff was helpful and friendly, accommodations right on the River Greta were beautiful.

excellent security, helpful friendly staff and spotlessly clean. wifi is too expensive and should be free or a lot less than 5GBP. Kitchen was very hot to be in - even with windows open = needs a fan
Liked location. No lift, though and had to pay for wifi. Price good, though, everything clean. Breakfast was good, but you could probably get it just as inexpensively out. Clothes washer was out, which was inconvenient.
This is a wonderful hostel! It is very clean, well located, friendly - and the food served is delicious! I would rather stay at the hostel than in a hotel! A great place!
