YHA Rotorua Reviews

Not my kind of hostel, I'd rather pick a smaler one next time. You have to pay for everything, even the lockers costs 2$. The hostel itself was ok, clean and a big and well equiped kitchen.

Loved this place! The staff goes above and beyond. I'd left my credit card at OGO and realized it when I went to check in. The staff called OGO and arranged to get my card back that night. Then, they put it in the safe overnight until I could pick it up. They also helped when someone had left their laundry in the dryer for over an hour. Very clean, very safe and right in the middle of Rotorua. Improvements would be more outlets in the rooms, lockers in the rooms, and a light at each bed.

Decent little spot, not a great location for town but neither is the competition. The staff is great and it is clean and most YHA's are.

Awesome Hostel!

Location is good, the lake and the center is quite close. The staff will help you to get your evening, programs be organized and they seems to be knowledgeable. Ok hostel but nothing special, not the best YHA we have ever been to. Knowing that Rotoura is such a tourist center we expected a bit better, but still ok for a sleep over.

Hostel was great- rooms were very clean and nice, but we were disappointed with not being close to the natural hot springs. We didn't realize these were so far outside of town. The front desk was really helpful and patient with any questions that we had.

There was a mouse/mice in our room, we then had to move to another room in a separate building which had no hot water the following morning. Granted we got a refund for our stay, but I will not be staying there again!

Very helpful staff. Very Clean. Lots of families. Good facilities.

Was not able to get much sleep as the lights from the admin block shone into our room all night. All else was perfect; kitchen facilities spotless and well equipped.

The hostel is Ok. But they had announced in Hostelsworldwide.com that they have FREE internet: bullshit! You have to pay for it. Second problem: bathrooms not always too cleans. There are many beds for few baths. The room was ok, clean and silent.

Good place to stay though if given a choice between a smaller/more personalized backpacker, I would go for the latter. Great city central (close to i-Site and restaurants) but supermarkets are located at the other end of town.
