I just stayed there for one night but it was really nice. I liked the dorm and the kitchen was clean and you had everything you needed.

Staff was unfriendly. Staff playing with dog while customers at reception desk waiting for help. After 10 minutes of not being served went elsewhere. Location far away from town centre. Quiet at night. Nice large kitchen. Spa area closed.

Good clean hostel, everything you expect and usually find in a YHA. Good tv room and selection of films. Rooms slightly small, but fine. Good location, easy walking distance to lake and to hot springs.

Hostel was clean and comfortable - the only issue I had was the room was located right on the main patio, and the noise at night could be very disturbing. If possible ask for a room nowhere near the patio.

Didn't really like this hostel. The location is ok but not great in Taupo, the staff was not overly helpful and it seems if you are not a YHA member you get a lot less value. Everything in the hostel is a cash grab whether it's Internet use or booking events. It doesn't really have a friendly vibe or atmosphere. Facilities are ok and it has everything most hostels have just not a very upbeat, fun or friendly atmosphere that great hostels have.

This was how I was "greeted" by the gentleman at front desk " If you are checking in, I am not interested in your printed booking confirmation. Give me your YHA cards or your IDs". No "Hi", no "hello", no "smiles". When he checked us in and handled our IDs and tossed them back on the counter, it seemed like he had a very bad day! Poor old man! If he doesn't like people, don't work at front office. I'm an YHA lover but I will never ever stay at this place again. It's far and it's expensive.
